Hi, I’m Andrew Merefield, a graduate of the Qld College of Art with almost 40 years of experience in photography. For the last 22 years I’ve been running Elite Studio, a portrait photography studio. During this time I have also run photography workshops, passing on the knowledge I have gathered to help other photographers improve their photography.
My photography is inspired by many different genres, the main two areas of inspiration are the mid 20th century pinup artists like Gil Elvgren and Alberto Vargas and the amazing glamour portraiture from the golden years of Hollywood, dramatically lit black and white portraits by photographers such as George Hurrell, Edward Steichen, C.S. Bull and Milton Greene, to name just a few.
Most of my photography is designed to create images that portray people at their best, often a stylised, almost fantasy view of themselves.
