Cartoon Drawing Workshop

Dive into cartooning and create your own cartoon characters

2 hours Class size 1 to 12     label $50 - $250 ($250 per guest when you book for 1+ guests, $70 for 4+ guests, $50 for 8+ guests)

Ever wanted to create your own cartoon character? Give yourself special powers?

Learn cartooning skills to draw quirky expressive faces. We will go through playful drawing exercises to gain skills and confidence.

Pick a face shape, a nose and some eyes. Learn to draw eyes ten different ways to show expressions: Surprise, rage, sadness, joy, fear, confidence. Develop two faces further, creating your own characters that you send on adventures.

We will make two concertina books from your worksheet drawings and with your own character.
Beginners are very welcome, no drawing experience needed. See what you can create!

All materials, worksheets and images for inspiration are provided. This class will be kept small with a maximum of 12 people. There is a $250 minimum fee per workshop. We can come to you or teach online: Covid will not stop us from being creative!

This class is a great indoor activity idea for individuals and couples as well as for a birthday, hens party, team building activity, corporate event, bucks party or Christmas party.

This is a fun indoor activity, suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 10 years old). Adult accompaniment is not required.

This would also be a nice gift for her, gift for mum or anniversary gift.

Jean Kropper

Jean Kropper is a paper artist, paper engineer, hand bookbinder, cartoonist, printmaker, designer and paper sculptor. She has her own boutique design studio Paper and Pixel, has taught in the USA, Canada and all around Australia from Arnhem Land in NT to Burnie, Tasmania. She has written three books on hand papermaking, card making and handbookbinding that together have sold over 30,000 copies. If you want to learn a way of telling stories using paper, Jean is the one to see!

She is passionate about teaching, whether it be to adults at the Art Gallery of NSW, design students at TAFE, teenagers at art centres or kids in libraries. She loves to work with absolute beginners and experienced artists alike.
