What you'll do

Gather your friends for a private, relaxed and laughter-filled pottery workshop at The Northern Pottery! In this fun and casual session, we can tailor any kind of fun pottery experience to your specific needs. We’ll do the hard part for you, centering the clay on the wheel or preparing all the parts you need, so you can jump straight into the creative process.

All you need to do is reach out to us through the Private Class button, and we can tailor a specific experience just for you and your guests!

Choose from wheel throwing or hand building---spend two hours experimenting on the potter’s wheel or with your hands and carving tools. Shape, spin, model and play with clay to create your own quirky and unique object. This session is all about having fun, letting loose and creating “perfectly imperfect” pottery. Expect lots of giggles, creativity and maybe even a little friendly competition to see whose object turns out the wonkiest and most fun!

Perfect for beginners or anyone who wants to experiment with pottery in a playful, stress-free environment.

What to bring

Just bring your enthusiasm and wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little clay on. An apron and a small towel are also handy!

I’m Dan, and The Northern Pottery is my clay-covered corner of Hornsby, built around creativity, community and the simple joy of making. With over 20 years of experience working with clay, I’ve created a space where people of all skill levels can slow down, get their hands dirty and enjoy the rhythm of the process.

From wheel throwing to handbuilding and everything in between, our classes are relaxed, welcoming and always just the right amount of muddy. There’s plenty of tea, good chats and no pressure to be perfect — just come along and make something!
