What you'll do
Rochfort Gallery is set to host a unique contemporary calligraphy workshop in Sydney that explores the fusion of Chinese traditional calligraphy and contemporary art.
This is an unmissable art experience, where both calligraphy enthusiasts and those curious about art will find their creative space.
In this class, you get to choose the colour theme and think of a character or word that holds personal significance, which can be your name or a meaningful word.
The instructor will guide how to use different mediums to create a textured background. Then help you design the calligraphy character for the artwork, focusing on semi-cursive or cursive script calligraphy style for the flowing and abstract look of the character.
Even beginners can find their rhythm in calligraphy, where your teacher will guide you hands-on in designing and unleashing your creativity.
By the end of the class, you can take home your completed artwork, becoming part of your art collection!

- Materials provided for the workshop include painting pigments colours, paint brushes, 300gsm watercolour paper, and mix medium.
- You will take home 1-2 complete contemporary calligraphy artworks.
What to bring
Please think of a character or word that holds personal significance, which can be your name or a meaningful word. The instructor will translate it into Chinese to determine the text and design the content for your artwork.
