Creative Mending and Decoration Workshop

Embrace the Circular Fashion movement: Learn to mend and revitalize your favourite garments!

3 hours Location St Peters Class size 1 to 15 guests   $165 (Afterpay available)

We're thrilled to welcome back Pauline Franklyn, visiting us all the way from Western Australia! After hosting several successful workshops with us over the past year, Pauline is returning to share her colourful and fun approach to stitching and creative mending at Made By Me Workshop in St Peters.
Inspired by her mother, who found joy in extending the life of garments, Pauline embraces the principles of circular fashion by bringing creativity and colour to the meditative task of mending. Using hand-dyed wool yarns, Liberty fabrics, and Indian cottons, she teaches you how to repair, reuse, and revitalize your cherished clothing.
In this workshop, participants are encouraged to bring along a pair of jeans, a favourite jumper with a moth hole, or any garment in need of rejuvenation. You'll learn Pauline's favourite weaving technique, Kantha running stitch, detached chain, Turkey work, and appliqué for patching.
The hand-dyed yarns Pauline uses are a joy to stitch with—both forgiving and inspiring. As you work, every stitch becomes a delightful surprise, as colours emerge and your mending takes shape, creating a piece that feels almost magical. This workshop is about embracing the pleasure and freedom of stitching while contributing to a more sustainable and mindful wardrobe.

  • 5/5 from Nicky Hall, attended Mar 2026: A wonderful afternoon learning how to repair old clothing with beautiful wool embroidery and fabric and give them a new lease of life. I brought in a denim shacket I thought I had ruined by pulling off its pockets and walked away with a unique and quirky fashion piece.
  • 5/5 from Kerryn Savage, attended Mar 2026: I really enjoyed the creative mending and decoration workshop with Pauline. It was so relaxing. Learning how to bring new life to some old favourite items of clothing had me searching my wardrobe for my next project.
  • 5/5 from Sally Fryer, attended Oct 2024: Utter joy this afternoon. I took an old jumper in that has been rejuvenated. Fabulous teacher. Great materials provided. Gorgeous women also taking the class. It was just too short for me. I could have sat there all day. So relaxing. Loved it.
  • 5/5 from Deborah Hennessey, attended Oct 2024: Everything that was going to be provided was there (plus delicious cookies & tea). The space is lovely and easy to find. Parking wasn’t a problem. Class ratio was perfect for the facilitator to look after us all. Time went quickly and I’ve got enough knowledge and excitement to keep going (with my visible mending and decorations)
  • 5/5 from Mary Collis, attended Oct 2024: Pauline was succinct in her explanations (no waffling on), let us get on with the technique right away and went round the table offering advice as needed. The venue was close to the M8, parking free and close by, a spacious venue with drinks and afternoon tea, lovely wools to ‘mend’ with and everything we needed to do this sort of work. I think we learned 3-4 different techniques over the afternoon. And the group produced highly varied embroidery to mend holes, cover stains, or simply embellish bland clothes or make them Individual. I can’t believe I learned so much in just one afternoon. My mind is racing now on all the ways I can use my newfound skills
  • 5/5 from Kim McGlinn, attended Oct 2024: This was a wonderful class, showing how to rescue, repair and personalise thrifted or damaged favourites from our wardrobe. Pauline was a great teacher and mentor, giving each participant creative and unique suggestions for personalising our beloved treasures. There was an array of beautiful fabric and colourful variegated wool to work with. The workshop was held in an amazing space - bright airy and inspiring - which only enhanced our creativity. I thoroughly enjoyed this class and would recommend it to anyone interested in repairing and adapting their favourites.

Made by Me Workshop is about helping people to connect with their "inner creative" and have some fun while making beautiful things from quality materials in our friendly & vibrant studio space in the heart of the inner west!
Established in 2017 after Rebecca Doyle decided to take a career break and chose to revisit her childhood love for arts & crafts. Rebecca grew up in a large family where money was tight, after school activities where mostly homegrown and usually involved a sheet of cardboard, a glue stick and some glitter! It is probably no surprise to learn that Rebecca followed a creative path to study Fashion & Textile Design at University!
After a few more decades (than Rebecca will publicly admit to) and a long and varied career in the fashion industry, Rebecca wanted to get back to creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind objects - Made By Me Workshop is the result of where this path led.
Rebecca loves that moment of pride that comes over each participant's face when they look at what they have created and say to themselves "Wow - I made this & I love it!"
Made by Me Workshop run a variety of creative workshops, hen’s parties, private parties and corporate events from their warehouse space in St Peters including Resin Art, Resin Jewellery & Mould Making, Soap Making, Terrazzo Homewares, Punch Needle, Macrame and many more.
