Cloisonné art is an ancient technique for decorating metalwork objects with coloured material held in place or separated by metal strips or wire. This workshop will teach you to make your own drink coaster with the exact same technique as our ancestors used to decorate enamelware in ancient history.
In this hands on experience worksho, you will use wire drawing and wire attachment to outline the shape of your design then fill in the coloured sand part before finally covering the sand with a special adhesive. The entire production process cultivates early artisans' patience and attention to detail.
Let's bring this ancient craft into our daily lives and appreciate the classical beauty of this intangible cultural heritage.
The workshop is also ideal for various group events, our professional staff will work with you closely to work out a plan that suits your preference and budget.

Recent reviews of DIY Cloisonné Drink Coaster Workshop

  • 5/5 from Do Mai, attended Oct 2026: It was a super fun experience choosing and designing our own coasters! Process is fairly straight forward but I would recommend choosing a more simple design for a smoother experience . Leah was super helpful and the hospitality with drinks was nice!
  • 3/5 from Shuyan Chin, attended May 2026: Booked this class for my friend’s birthday. We thought there would be an educational/introduction element to this workshop as with other ClassBento classes we attended in the past, however to our surprise we were promptly ushered to a table with equipment already set up for only two of us when we arrived, and shown a couple of samples before being asked to draw our design (which I didn’t come prepared for). During the time we were there, the instructor’s attention was divided among the other groups of people doing different activities, and the workshop space felt quite chaotic. The ‘class’ felt more like an activity I could have done at home. For what I paid for this class, I expected more. Overall we still enjoyed making the coasters. The instructor was very friendly. I hope this review can help improve future workshop experience here.
  • 5/5 from Camilla Leong, attended Dec 2025: Both Mabel and Fiona have assisted me during my time here for this workshop! I decided to do a super cute panda! Normally I would just paint on the coaster and that'll be it. But today I worked using wire to shape the panda, and then using coloured sand to give it colour. I had a fun day and learnt something new.
  • 5/5 from Yulia Popova, attended Dec 2025: Thank you so much for the class, we enjoyed it a lot Can't wait to bring our coasters home next week
  • 4/5 from Janet Sleigh, attended Nov 2025: I had a lot of fun creating my coaster. Miko, the instructor, was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely sign up for one of their other courses.
  • 5/5 from Rachel Arthur, attended May 2025: The teacher was patient, helpful and encouraging — I really enjoyed the class and hope to attend again.
  • 5/5 from Annette Caszo, attended Feb 2025: It was a great class, I had a lot of fun. The instructor was great.
  • 5/5 from Daryl-Anne Lyn Elias, attended Jan 2025: Lots of fun. Nice outcome. This centre offers lots of different classes and we will be back!
