Fabric Meterage Screen Printing Workshop

In this screen printing workshop in Marrickville, you will discover how to screen print onto lengths of fabric so that you can create garments, table runners or bedding, as an example. It's a fantastic opportunity to explore the more mathematical side of textile printing.

Don't worry if you have no prior experience in screen printing. This is a beginner-friendly class with a step-by-step introduction. You'll be taken through the entire repeat printing process, from laying out the fabric and preparing the pre-exposed screen, to setting up the print table and finally printing. You'll also learn about fabric curing and how to ensure the longevity of your prints.

By the end of the workshop, you'll have a length of fabric that you hand-screen printed yourself and the knowledge of how to repeat print at home. You'll also receive reference notes to help you remember the techniques you've learned. Beginner friendly!
 

• A length of hand-printed fabric, printed by you.
• Any test prints you may print in the class.
• Class notes, including fabric care instructions.

Your Fabric: 1.8m - 3m of Poplin, Homespun/Broadcloth, or a light to medium-weight Linen or Cotton with a tight weave works well, including Chambray or Denim.
(Fabrics Not Suitable: Muslin, Chiffon, Satin, Sateen, textured fabric eg. drill or stretch fabric e.g. t-shirt/swimwear fabric).
