Hi, I’m Savanna, the hands (and heart) behind Sparkly Bright Eyes.
I’ve been a maker for as long as I can remember, but cross stitch became my true creative home after I was medically retired from my career as a primary school teacher. What started as a mindful hobby to help me slow down and reconnect with myself quickly turned into a way to share that same joy with others — especially the next generation of makers.
There was a moment when I realised I didn’t just want to stitch for myself — I wanted to see the lightbulb moments when someone else makes their first stitch and feels proud. That’s when Sparkly Bright Eyes was born.
I teach small, beginner-friendly cross stitch and sewing workshops for children (7+), teens, and adults. My designs are deliberately small and approachable, so no one feels overwhelmed — you leave with something finished, something yours, and hopefully a big smile.
As a former teacher, I love creating an environment where learning feels safe, fun, and a little quirky. Whether it’s at my home-based studio in the Hawkesbury or at special events, I aim to make each class a space where people can slow down, connect, and enjoy a creative pause from busy life.
Something people often don’t realise? Cross stitch is not just for grandmas (though they are some of the best stitchers I know). It’s meditative, great for fine motor skills, and you can adapt it to almost any style — from traditional motifs to modern, colourful art.
Since starting, I’ve run workshops for kids’ holiday programs, adult mindful stitching sessions, and community creative events. My classes have welcomed complete beginners, seasoned crafters wanting to relax, and even parents and kids stitching side-by-side.
If you’re looking for a friendly, relaxed class where you’ll leave with a finished piece and a calmer mind, I’d love to see you in a workshop.
