Keen on textiles or textile crafts? Intrigued by the process of felt making but aren't sure how to get started?

If you're interested in exploring unique and unusual ways to express your creativity then come and play for a day in our Marrickville studio! Learn the basics of this ancient craft, explore new techniques and work on a project of your choice.

In our Sydney workshop, you'll learn the skills to create fun, creative and inexpensive wearables, homewares and art pieces for yourself or as unique gifts for your loved ones.

All levels of experience are catered for from complete beginners to the more experienced. There will be plenty of time to take advantage of your teacher's resources including books, magazines and samples and if you're unsure of what to make we can walk you through your options, depending on your experience level and interests.

It's a really beautiful, simple and forgiving craft. You don't have to consider yourself 'crafty' (although secretly we consider everyone to be creative in their own way). This technique is so versatile and can be used to make such a variety of different things that you're bound to find an application that suits you and be amazed at what you can achieve, just in one day!

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 2 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.

I'm Gill, aka feltwilde. I have been immersed in the world of feltmaking for over 2o years and continue to find inspiration and expression in this extraordinary medium.

Ever enthusiastic about introducing the world to this marvellous textile, alongside my studio practice I've been running feltmaking workshops for the past 15 years or more and have taught everyone from complete beginners, textile teachers, students, enthusiasts and creatives looking for fun and inspiring ways to make sustainable homewares, wearables and art pieces to grace their homes, or as gifts for family and friends.

Participants are often blown away by the alchemical process of felting wool, the remarkable versatility of the medium and what they can achieve in a day.

It's always a pleasure watching the creative process unfold, being there to facilitate that process but being able to step back and watch as each participant brings their own unique style and expression to their piece.
