What you'll do
In this relaxing and tactile class, you’ll learn how to layer a variety of threads to create a richly textured forest scene. Using long and short stitches alongside seed stitch, Amy will guide you through techniques that bring depth, colour, and movement to your embroidery.Whether you’re completely new to hand embroidery or building on skills from previous classes, you’ll come away with your own unique piece and the confidence to keep stitching at home.This is a brand-new theme from Amy Jones, ideal for both beginners and returning students who’ve enjoyed past workshops like Scribbly Gum, Jewelled Moss, or Rainbow Coral.During the class, you will learn:
- How to use long and short stitch, and seed stitch
- Tips for layering threads to create depth and texture
- Techniques for stitching trees, leaves and foliage

Amy Jones is a textile artist whose work, inspired by botanical themes, blends abstract and figurative elements to explore memory and change. Using a mix of new and recycled materials, her dreamlike creations evoke themes of love, loss, and renewal, with stitching as a meditative process. Amy also teaches textile workshops across Sydney and her work has been featured on the cover of Annabel Crabb and Leigh Sales' book Well Hello.
She teaches weekly workshops from her home studio in Perth W.A. and loves sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for making. Pauline makes beautiful, unique items to bring joy and colour to your life. Rebecca grew up in a large family where money was tight, after school activities where mostly homegrown and usually involved a sheet of cardboard, a glue stick and some glitter!
