Glazing 101

Learn how to decorate and glaze (aka the mystery coat that turns into glass) your ceramic pieces.

Whether you're a complete beginner or someone looking to deepen their practice, this course is designed to meet you right where you are, with no experience necessary.
You’ll have the freedom to follow your own creative path and make something that truly speaks to you, whether it is making a collection of tableware, a one-of-a-kind sculpture or trying a bunch of new techniques.
What we'll get up to:
  • The juicy basics: how clay works (and why it’s weirdly addictive)
  • Pinching, slabbing, coiling, and all the joining magic in between
  • Surface decorating: textures, colour, pattern play
  • Glazing 101 (aka: “the mystery coat that turns into glass”)
Following your own creative vision (big or small, functional or funky), this course is all about play, process and personal projects. There’s no pressure to make “perfect” pottery, just the joy of creating something with your own two hands.
What you'll get
  • Small class size - max 6 students = loads of one-on-one guidance
  • All materials, tools, and unlimited making and firing included
  • 6 weekly sessions of tactile, meditative, skill-building clay play
  • A creative environment - class held in the heritage building of Kil.n.it Experimental Ceramics Studio tucked behind Glebe Library
  • Your finished ceramics will be food, dishwasher, and microwave safe, ready for pickup 4-6 weeks after the course is finished.

I fell in love with ceramics as a high school elective - staying back for hours, completely absorbed in shaping clay and letting my mind wander. That passion only grew when I was accepted into a specialised art school in Northern Sweden (yes, I’m Swedish!).
After moving to Australia five years ago, I found my creative home at Kil.n.it Experimental Ceramics Studios in Glebe, where I’ve been a studio artist since 2022 and manager since 2024.
Some very chill, not-at-all show-offy humble brags about my ceramics journey since moving to the Down Under:
  • I’ve exhibited my work in numerous exhibitions
  • My work has been featured in House & Garden Australia and Belle Magazine
  • Collaborated with fashion brand SHEIKE last year
While I’ve taught across several pottery studios for the last 4 years, I wanted to create something more personal - classes built around my own philosophy of making.
So I launched my own hand-building ceramics classes.
My approach is all about creative freedom. I’ll teach you the skills and techniques you need - but what you create is entirely up to you. Whether you have a clear idea or no idea at all, I’ll guide you to make something that truly excites you.
With small class sizes, there’s plenty of one-on-one time, and space to learn in a way that feels natural and inspiring.
If you’re curious about clay, love working with your hands, or just want a creative outlet - come join me. Let’s make something that makes your eyes sparkle
