Hi, I’m Savanna, the hands (and heart) behind Sparkly Bright Eyes.I’ve been a maker for as long as I can remember, but cross stitch became my true creative home after I was medically retired from my career as a primary school teacher. What started as a mindful hobby to help me slow down and reconnect with myself quickly turned into a way to share that same joy with others — especially the next generation of makers.There was a moment when I realised I didn’t just want to stitch for myself — I wanted to see the lightbulb moments when someone else makes their first stitch and feels proud. That’s when Sparkly Bright Eyes was born.I teach small, beginner-friendly cross stitch and sewing workshops for children (7+), teens, and adults. My designs are deliberately small and approachable, so no one feels overwhelmed — you leave with something finished, something yours, and hopefully a big smile.As a former teacher, I love creating an environment where learning feels safe, fun, and a little quirky. Whether it’s at my home-based studio in the Hawkesbury or at special events, I aim to make each class a space where people can slow down, connect, and enjoy a creative pause from busy life.Something people often don’t realise? Cross stitch is not just for grandmas (though they are some of the best stitchers I know). It’s meditative, great for fine motor skills, and you can adapt it to almost any style — from traditional motifs to modern, colourful art.Since starting, I’ve run workshops for kids’ holiday programs, adult mindful stitching sessions, and community creative events.
