The backyard studio was filled with books, thread and all sorts of treasures. I can't wait to organise another afternoon with Narda to learn more textile arts.

Would definitely recommend, especially for anyone who doesn’t know how to embroider but wants to use it in their major works.

I went along for the fun of it; but came away with an enthusiasm for the scope of the craft and an idea of projects to keep me going. Narda enthusiastically encouraged ideas with some thoughtfull comments about how to tackle ideas. Narda also shared her delight of art and history and embroidery referencing many books from a multitude of different geographic locations. A fun, informative and relaxed learning environment, highly recommended.

The teacher is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about her craft. The venue was clean, well presented, and had a welcoming atmosphere. She is also a very kind and caring person, offering tea and delicious home-baked cakes, which was a lovely touch. However, I left the class feeling quite disappointed. Despite the class being four hours long, I hardly did any stitching myself. A large portion of the time was spent recording the stitching process and talking, rather than actively learning and practicing the techniques. While some explanation is, of course, important, it felt like there was too much emphasis on watching and listening rather than doing. For the price, I expected a more hands-on, structured experience that helped students build skills through practice. Sadly, the class felt disorganised, and I came home feeling like I hadn't learned much at all. That said, I believe a student could gain a lot from her knowledge if the class time were managed more effectively. She truly has a lot to offer, it just needs to be delivered in a more student-focused way.

She used her own work to demonstrate the different threads & stitches & it was amazing to see so many different applications. I most enjoyed revising my memory of stitches and learning new stitches. And felt we’d spent a bit more time than needed on set up & examples & about the different threads — which because there was so many different types & options left me more confused than clear. Perhaps a cheat sheet on thread types would be useful. I would have preferred more time devoted to stitches & ensuring each of us had got it before going onto the next. Cake was divine and Narda was extremely generous with her wisdom & knowledge. Thank you.

I learned interesting facts and was taught different stitches in order to experience embroidery. Additionally, I was given great materials and tips in order to achieve these valuable experiences. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the learning experience and it was only amplified by an amazing teacher.

Narda was so patient and polite and extremely supportive in teaching me the basics of hand embroidery and in the course, introducing me to art history as well. She is highly learned and skilled in her craftsmanship and her communication skill is excellent. She provided me with all the materials needed and a start up kit as well! She also baked a chocolate cake and made special Darjeeling Tea for me and the warmth and hospitality made my experience as a beginner truly memorable and truly worth it. She is brilliant!

We were taught the fundamentals of different stitches which set up the basis for practically any embroidery design. We were taught good technique and also posture, as well as a bit of history around embroidery and uses of the stitches. Narda created little beginners kits for us with useful handouts, different coloured floss, a vial of needles, and other great supplies. Everything we needed to participate was supplied during the workshop, and she also prepared a gorgeous little cake and tea for us to enjoy together. The venue was easy to find and pleasant to work in: calm, cosy, well lit, and nice atmosphere. Narda herself was kind, funny, patient, and obviously passionate about her crafts, and was inspiring. I left the workshop so excited about designing some projects for myself. Really glad I came along to this and would highly recommend to others!

It was an unexpected intimate one-on-one workshop with Narda where I learnt the basics of embroidery at her beautiful home. The time really flew by and it often felt more like friends having a chat over tea, brownies, and crafting than a strict lesson. Narda was very patient and her passion for all things crafty was apparent from the outset. Her examples of different techniques and displays of her own works was extremely helpful as a beginner as I learn best visually and was able to not only see but also touch the patterns with my hands to analyse the way it was done. Wonderful teacher and workshop; would highly recommend for anyone who learns better in less structured, more free-form lessons. Thank you Narda!

After that you learn a wide array of stitches which are taught very clearly and with that and the handy information pack you are given you will have all the tools you need yo get started on embroidering pretty much anything you want. Narda is a lovely teacher who is happy to revise any details as many times as you need and has a wonderful selection of teas to be paired with dessert.
