Herringbone Stitch Masterclass with Kasia Jacquot

Unlock the artistry of Herringbone Stitch: A deep dive into textured embroidery

6 hours Class size 6 to 15 guests     $220
An in-depth immersion workshop giving students the expertise in using the Herringbone Stitch which allows for fast, large-scale filling of any shape and results in beautifully textured work. Students will be able to solid fill leaves, petals and stems quickly and create textured, bold and colourful pieces that make an impact. Kasia also teaches stitches which are complementary to and enhance the Herringbone Stitch.
This Masterclass is best for students who have done some embroidery before. The herringbone stitch is best for filling large patterns enabling students to embellish their own clothes, table linens or cushions with large bold patterns that make an impact. The amount of time spent using a herringbone stitch on a large shape can be the same as using other stitches on small shapes.
As we’re immersing ourselves mainly into one stitch, the one-day workshop is a great way to get into a flow and perfect your technique.
What You Will Learn:
  • Basics of open and closed herringbone stitch.
  • Filling straight lines, circles, leaves, petals.
  • Filling complex shapes.
  • Adding other stitches to enhance the herringbone stitch such as outlining with stem or back stitch.
  • Blending and making your own colours for variegated herringbone effect.
  • Adding quick borders.

Made by Me Workshop is about helping people to connect with their "inner creative" and have some fun while making beautiful things from quality materials in our friendly & vibrant studio space in the heart of the inner west!
Established in 2017 after Rebecca Doyle decided to take a career break and chose to revisit her childhood love for arts & crafts. Rebecca grew up in a large family where money was tight, after school activities where mostly homegrown and usually involved a sheet of cardboard, a glue stick and some glitter! It is probably no surprise to learn that Rebecca followed a creative path to study Fashion & Textile Design at University!
After a few more decades (than Rebecca will publicly admit to) and a long and varied career in the fashion industry, Rebecca wanted to get back to creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind objects - Made By Me Workshop is the result of where this path led.
Rebecca loves that moment of pride that comes over each participant's face when they look at what they have created and say to themselves "Wow - I made this & I love it!"
Made by Me Workshop run a variety of creative workshops, hen’s parties, private parties and corporate events from their warehouse space in St Peters including Resin Art, Resin Jewellery & Mould Making, Soap Making, Terrazzo Homewares, Punch Needle, Macrame and many more.
