  • 5/5 from Dora Lee, attended Nov 2025: This class was very relaxing and let us learn about a beautiful craft, its background and history, and how to make it. The teacher was very nice and would assist us in finishing our keychains if it was too hard. She also encouraged us to create our own design of Mizuhiki knots. She made us very excited to make more at home especially since I am a crafts lover. She also designed several keychains as we saw at the Japan Fair last week, which were very cute and creative. I would really like to come back so she teaches us to make those more advanced patterns. Overall, our first lesson was a great introduction to the art of Mizuhiki. Both my daughter and I enjoyed the session very much.
  • 5/5 from Ayasa Ide, attended Oct 2025: Even if it’s your first time, the teacher explains everything clearly, so anyone can make it easily while having fun. It’s also really interesting to learn about Japanese culture, and I enjoyed choosing from all the different colors. We can take it home after making it, so it becomes a wonderful memory. The teacher was very kind, and the atmosphere of the lesson was warm, so even if you come alone, I think you can still enjoy joining it. After making it, it might be nice to take a picture with everyone who joined the workshop. Also, it would be great if we could see some examples of how or when to use this accessory.

We had such a relaxing view from the room too, which made the experience even better. We had a great selection of colors and options for earrings or keyrings, so we could really make something unique! **What did you like most?** I loved how beginner-friendly the class was! Hi, I’m Saki, the hands behind Knot 'n Knot. I’m a Mizuhiki artist based in Hornsby, NSW, and I run workshops to share this beautiful Japanese craft with others.
I’ve always loved making things, but when I first tried Mizuhiki, something just clicked. I was drawn in by the soothing process of tying each knot and the deeper meaning behind every design—wishes for happiness, love, and long-lasting connections. That quiet beauty, mixed with tradition, made me fall in love with the craft. Creating Mizuhiki helps me feel connected to my Japanese roots, and it's become a gentle, joyful part of my life.
What I enjoy most about teaching is seeing people light up when they try something new. It’s such a joy to share the excitement I feel about Mizuhiki and watch it spread. Whether you're here to relax, learn a new skill, or simply make something beautiful, I aim to make the experience fun, welcoming, and meaningful.
In my workshops, I don’t just teach technique—I also love sharing the stories behind Mizuhiki: the traditions, customs, and symbolism that make it more than just a craft. My background in education (both in Japan and Australia) helps me tailor classes to different ages and learning styles, so everyone feels comfortable and supported.
Whether you're completely new to Mizuhiki or just curious, I’d love to welcome you to a workshop and help you create something truly special.
