KASAMA means “companion” or “together” in my native language, Tagalog. This word stayed with me as I made pottery on a tiny table at home envisioning the journey ahead.A year ago I was offered a creative tenancy to develop my ceramics practice. At that moment, I knew I also wanted to create a space for community where people can take pause to imagine, to connect. I launched my first handbuilding workshop in Feb 2024 and since then bringing people together through clay has become an integral part of my practice. There’s an inexplicable joy in being able to create an experience where individuals are encouraged to explore the maker inherent within themselves. I’ve cherished every moment, every interaction with each person who has walked through Kasama Studio’s doors. Kasama Studio has evolved into a community of enthusiastic makers inspired to express their creativity through clay as a medium. I look forward to holding space for many more makers in this way through pottery workshops and bespoke events.
