School Holiday Workshop
Tuesday, 6 October, 9:30am–12:00pm
Get ready for a colourful and creative mosaic adventure!
In this fun, hands-on workshop, children will design and create two of their very own mosaic artworks using a beautiful selection of colourful glass and ceramic pieces. Rather than simply copying a set design, children will be encouraged to use their imagination, explore different colours and shapes, plan their own designs, and make creative choices along the way. There’s no right or wrong way to create; every finished piece will be completely unique!
This workshop is designed to nurture creativity, imagination, and independent thinking while giving children the exciting experience of working with glass and ceramic materials. All mosaic pieces are specially prepared with smooth, non-sharp edges, making them safe and suitable for children to handle and create with.
All materials are included, and at the end of the workshop, each child will proudly take home two colourful, one-of-a-kind mosaic creations made by them!
Suitable for ages 5–14.

Originally from Japan and now based in Sydney, Mai Oshima is a glass artist, designer and teacher with over 20 years of experience working with glass.
Mai holds a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts (Glass) from Japan and is a qualified art teacher. Before moving to Australia, she taught glassblowing, flameworking and kiln-forming in Japan, where she developed a passion for helping people discover the creativity and joy of working with glass.
Inspired by the colours and beauty of Sydney's Northern Beaches, Mai creates handcrafted glass jewellery and artworks using a range of glass techniques. She loves sharing her knowledge in a relaxed, supportive environment where beginners feel comfortable exploring a new skill and experienced makers can continue to grow.
Whether you're making your very first glass bead or creating your own stained glass piece, Mai's workshops are designed to be creative, hands-on and enjoyable. You'll leave with beautiful handmade work, new skills, and the confidence to keep creating.
