Join Leah from Craft Make Do for a relaxing online counted cross stitch workshop where you'll learn the fundamentals of this calming stitching technique, ready to keep stitching long after the class ends.
It doesn't matter if you've never picked up a needle before, everyone starts somewhere, and a slightly wonky first stitch is all part of the fun. This beginner friendly class is perfect if you're searching for a new hobby, a relaxing night in, or a fun online craft activity to join solo or with a friend, all from the comfort of your own home.
During this guided online session, Leah will walk you through the materials used in counted cross stitch, how to read a pattern, and how to use an embroidery hoop, before teaching you the basic stitches themselves. Your cross stitch kit will be posted straight to your door ahead of the class, so everything is ready to go the moment you log on.
This workshop is about learning a skill for life, so you won't finish your kit within the session itself. Instead, you'll leave with a solid grounding in the basics, the confidence to keep going, and a project you can return to at your own pace, plus a calming new hobby you might just fall in love with.

  • 5/5 from Greg Lockwood, attended Oct 2024: Leah is a great teacher! Not only is she an extremely patient and knowledgeable but she was super understanding and flexible with scheduling. She was very accomodating when we asked for a weekend morning session and then we had to reschedule again, this all due to a family member having a chronic illness and being housebound. Unfortunately all that effort ended in our family member being too unwell to participate in the class on the day. Leah was so lovely, she ended up recording our class and sending us the link. We’re super grateful and can’t wait to watch the class again when our family member is better again. I also can’t wait to finish my cat cross stitch. It’s such a relaxing art form and cat pattern is so cute! And I know my husband has been really enjoying working on his dinosaur.
  • 5/5 from Kris Medcraft, attended Jun 2024: Leah was patient and understanding. She explained what to do and gave me a lot of opportunity to ask questions.
  • 5/5 from Louise Smith, attended Dec 2023: Really great session - the team and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Leah was extremely patient with us as we are all beginners, and by the end of the session we had got the hang of it! A great way to finish the calendar year and unwind - thank you!
