Making Bookcloth Workshop

Learn how to make Japanese paper-backed fabric

6 hours Class size 1 to 6 guests       $200 (Afterpay available)

Tutor: Petra Weber
It’s rewarding making your own books but even more exciting if you can cover them with your own bookcloth. The possibilities of colours, designs and textiles are amazing taking you way beyond the limits of commercially available bookcloth. Almost any cloth can be transformed into bookcloth.
In this class, you will be taken through the process of backing cloth with rice paper, making it usable for binding. You will spend the day making bookcloth which you will be able to later use to cover your books. You will be making backed cloth up to A3 size. The bindery will supply all materials, but you are welcome to bring your cloth samples.
