Meet Crockd

Meet Crockd

By Tiffany Fung

Crockd was born out of a simple mission—to help get you out of your head and into your hands.

It all started when founders Rosa Willis and Andrew Ford felt like getting crafty at home one day. Their problem? They were total beginners with no idea how to get their hands on some clay.

So they went on to launch DIY pottery kits in early 2020 and it quickly became clear that people across Australia and the United States had been craving an accessible creative outlet that was all about having fun.

A few years on and they’ve opened their first pottery studio along Neutral Bay’s bustling Military Road in Sydney. The pink limewashed walls, well-used pillar candles, funky neon signs and shelves decked with beginner-made ceramics, have helped form a space that sparks conversation and helps you find your flow with clay.

So whether you’re a ceramic newbie or a pottery enthusiast, Rosa, Andrew, and the team at Crockd are eager to show you how fun and easy playing with clay can be. And with your two hands and a glass of rosé at your side, you might just discover your new favourite way to unwind.

Pottery is for everyone…

Crockd

“I love how accessible pottery is as an artform. It feels so empowering to make something that is instantly functional with your own two hands. I love how simple it is to be experimental. I think it’s the perfect training ground for creativity.”

Step into the Crockd studio and you will…

Ceramic painting

“Feel instantly welcomed and inspired.”

Our top tip for beginners is…

Wheel throwing

“Use less water—unless you’re throwing on the wheel!”

Pottery will show you…

“How to let go of the end result and just be present for the process.”

The biggest transformations we see are…

Pottery classes

“People who come in feeling like they’re a fish out of water and end up feeling inspired to pursue a new hobby.”

We show love to the planet by…

“Having no single use plastics in our studio!”
