Inspired by her grandma’s love of art, when Kylie Johnson picked up a paintbrush over a decade ago she quickly realised what all the fuss was about.
Eager to share this with others, Kylie converted her home office in to a sun-filled art studio by the water, a casual space for people to switch off and try something new. Whether it be corporate teams or an aged care group, she believes spending a few hours surrounded by paints, music and waves is therapeutic for everyone.

My passion for painting started when…
“I found the therapeutic benefits of being lost in painting for six hours in a day. It was a form of meditation and a mindful activity.”
Step inside my studio and you will…
“Find paints, music and wine together and that in itself is a therapeutic and fun experience. I also have a studio puppy and she is just puppy therapy. She gives plenty of cuddles and playtime.”
My top tip for first-timers is…
“You don't have to be an artist to paint. Anybody can. Painting is satisfying and joyful and I believe that everybody is creative in their own way if they allow themselves to give it a go.”
Painting is for everyone…
“I’ve had cancer patients come here as a celebration that they beat chemo and survived. I've had 80 year old widows come and say they’ve always wanted to paint. People will also bring their parents here not knowing where they were going. Or on a date night, where the boyfriend will surprise his girlfriend. So, all different ages and occasions. It's just fantastic!”
