Put on your creative hat and get ready to play with flowers—no prior experience required!
This relaxed, hands-on workshop is perfect for beginners who enjoy arts and crafts and would like to explore creating with mindfulness painting on a tote bag. Using a wide range of colourful fabric paint, you’ll be guided step by step in designing your own tote bag.
Our subjects are beautiful flowers. Smell the fragrance, admire the vibrant colours, touch the thorns, and even bite a petal! Instead of arranging flowers in a vase, you’ll draw them on a tote bag to take home.
Flowers speak the language of love—expressing admiration, celebration, and care. Dr Bibiana Chan will share her passion for working with flowers, along with the well-being benefits of slowing down, engaging your senses, and reconnecting with nature through creative making.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll gain the confidence to experiment with colours and design your own tote bag with floral artwork. You'll bring home a tote bag that shows off your creative talent and perhaps your personality. It can also be a thoughtful handmade gift.
What you'll get
You’ll take home a beautiful single stem local rose and your unique tote bag.
Plus you'll learn:
  • How to design and compose a painting suitable for a tote bag
  • How to apply simple mindfulness in creative arts, paying attention to your senses
  • Master some elements of design which can be applied in other floral arrangements
  • Tips for embedding creativity in your everyday life

The Community Flower Studio (CFS) is a youth-focused charity that has a not-for-profit social enterprise arm. CFS sells floral arrangements, indoor plants, and art pieces to the public. Net proceeds will be used to support youth facing mental health challenges. CFS offers various creative workshops to youth via collaborations with outreach youth services such as StreetWork, a charity established in 1980. By nurturing their creative talents, encouraging face-to-face interactions, and inspiring them with the lived experiences of CFS members, youth learn valuable life skills. For those youth interested in assisting with CFS pop-up shops, they will gain work experience in retail customer service and work ethics. For those who are keen to pursue post-secondary studies at TAFE or universities, CFS will look for suitable mentors to support their aspirations. This will help them find meaningful employment in the future.
