This one-day comprehensive photography course for beginners is a fun practical class to learn how to use your camera creatively while exploring various Sydney locations. Sarah Jenkins, an award winning professional photographer, will provide you the skills and confidence to get the most out of your camera’s settings (DSLR, Mirrorless, Bridge) and never go back to Auto mode again!
This is a outdoor, small group photography course for beginners and for those who need a refresher - and also makes a unique birthday gift for the budding photographer! Comprising theory and practical, you will learn the basic techniques of photography, beginning with familiarising yourself with your camera’s main settings, followed by shooting a variety of subjects: landscapes, portraits, close-ups, fauna, street, architecture - in different low light and outdoor lighting conditions around Sydney city and Harbour.
Private classes are available by request for 1 person for a flat rate of $390 for 3 hours, with option for additional hours.
During winter months private courses can also include one-hour night shooting around Sydney Harbour.
What this course covers:
- Camera settings and handling
- Digital photography fundamentals, including aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance
- Composition, depth of field and lighting
- Practical outdoor and low light photography

We stop for lunch where you can bring own lunch or purchase as take-away on the day.
Budding teenage photographers (from age 13) are welcome to join on their own with written consent from a parent (ages 13-14), or mum or dad is welcome to join the class and learn with their child from age 12!

Course is non-refundable. 5 days notice is allowed if you wish to transfer to a different course date. We reserve the right to cancel any course or workshop with inadequate enrolment. In the event, this occurs you will be offered a full refund or the option of transferring to another future course date. We reserve the right to cancel and reschedule any course, due to bad weather or instructor illness. Courses and workshops proceed whether the sun shines or not! (Some of the best shots are captured in overcast /storm cloudy weather). In the event of severe weather conditions i.e heavy rain forecast (as opposed to light rain) the morning of the workshop, an SMS will be sent to your mobile with a re-scheduled course date that suits the majority of students.
