She explained all the basic camera functions in a super simple way and being able to put it into practice straight away was great. Loved walking around the botanic gardens and the city capturing different subjects, and having a small group meant that she was able to give us constructive feedback as we went along. Highly recommend for beginners or anyone who needs a refresher!

The instructor was knowledgeable and patient, explaining concepts like aperture, shutter speed, and ISO in a way that was easy to understand. We spent the morning learning the basics, followed by a practical session exploring the city, where we applied what we learned in real-world settings. It was great to receive immediate feedback on our shots, helping us improve on the spot. The small class size allowed for plenty of one-on-one guidance, making it a welcoming environment for those new to photography. Whether you’re using a DSLR or mirrorless camera, the session provided valuable insights into manual settings and composition techniques. Overall, this class was a fantastic introduction to photography, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking to step beyond auto mode and start capturing better photos. The way she delivered the class made the information easily digestible. We met up in the Royal Botanical Gardens and walked to Martin Place and Circular Quay. There was plenty of opportunity to practise and Sarah gave really practical tips along the way. I could instantly see a difference in how my photos turned out. Sarah also sent through her handy course notes after the class. I would definitely recommend Sarah and this class if you are a beginner!

We started off with getting to know our cameras and learning some of the foundations of photography - shutter speeds, aperture settings, light etc. Sarah explained everything really clearly and concisely and was always happy to answer any of our questions. We then went out into the gardens to put into practice what we had learned. We covered quite a bit in our day - flower closeups, city streets, black and white, portraits, landscapes For anyone who doesn't know much about photography or hasn't picked up a camera in a while, this Beginners Course is perfect! Well it was for me. I learned a lot, and also had fun. Thank you, Sarah :)
