Painting for beginners
If you’re looking for fun things to do in Sydney, why not try your hand at one of these local painting classes!
Whether you’re looking for corporate team building activities in Sydney or fun things to do in Sydney at night, we have loads of different painting classes and art classes taught by teachers from different backgrounds and specialities. Maybe you want to learn how to paint an oil or acrylic artwork, take a beginner’s watercolour painting class, or let your creativity loose with a paint and sip class. You can even learn knife painting for beginners to create a stunning, textural masterpiece!
People often think that painting is best left to artists – it’s something that the majority of us stop doing when we leave primary school and are too apprehensive to try again. But that’s no reason to think you can’t practice and have some fun with it. The best thing about painting is that there are so many different styles, from portraiture to still life, landscape painting and abstraction. No matter your skill level with a brush, there really is something for everyone. Explore this selection of the best painting teachers in Sydney so that you can find the perfect class for you, your friends and your family to enjoy together.

What to expect at Sydney painting classes
These painting classes are perfect for beginners or more experienced painters. Best of all, these experienced and friendly art teachers offer private tutorial classes or group painting sessions. Kids painting classes also make excellent school holiday activities in Sydney. Likewise, if you’re looking to give an experience gift to someone special these classes are a great option.
Unleash your inner artist as local teachers take you through essential skills and painting techniques with a series of different painting exercises. Depending on which class you choose materials may be provided, and at the end of the class, you will have your own hand-painted masterpiece to take home with you. A lot of these Sydney workshops encourage you to BYO wine and snacks too, so you can get creative in a social atmosphere.

Painting is great for your wellbeing
Painting can be so much more than just a creative outlet: it’s a proven therapeutic tool, and when practised regularly, can improve concentration and sharpen your fine motor skills. The process of painting increases your memory and visualisation skills as you find yourself remembering specific details of a scene or a photograph when you’re trying to reproduce it on the canvas. Whether you’re exploring the richness of oil painting or experimenting with watercolours, painting is an incredible way to practice new creative skills and diversify your thinking patterns, especially for those with a more analytical brain or dominant left hemisphere. It is also a great stress reliever, as painting allows you to take a break from your mind and focus on expressing yourself in a different way. When painting you will find yourself looking for the beauty in your subject matter, which alters your perspective of the world and can help you shift into a more positive mindset!
