Q: Do I need to have any experience with bookbinding?
No, everything will be prepared in a way that makes for a seamless experience, and I will be there to explain each step.
Q: What happens if I don't have enough photos?
If you don’t have enough photos, you’re also welcome to include scans, photographs of meaningful relics or artefacts, and any quotes or messages you’d like featured. While this is a photobook, it is ultimately a book created by you—so anything that holds meaning for you can be included. Feel free to message me if you’d like some ideas or guidance.
Q: Is there a standard for image quality?
It would be ideal to avoid screenshots of images and anything that produces blur but lower quality photos are still absolutely workable. We can adjust the page design, add texts and physical media so that weaker images feel intentional within the overall layout. In some cases, lower-resolution images can even add texture and character, depending on the project. You don’t need perfect material, just material that is meaningful to you.
Q: Will each book be unique?
While the overall format—book size, binding style, and printing layout—will be consistent to ensure a seamless binding experience for people of all experience levels, every book is still completely individual. During the workshop, you’ll have full autonomy over your page sequencing, the materials you include, your cover design and colour, and even finer binding details. The content and expression of each book is entirely your own.
Q: I’m worried about my privacy, how is my image data handled?
The image upload process is handled with care and privacy in mind. You will receive a private upload link (via Google Drive) that is only accessible to you and me. After the workshop, all submitted images will be securely deleted to ensure your privacy is fully protected.
Q: What ages is this class suitable for?
A: Adults & 14+ years. An adult must accompany any attending kids (the adult may observe for free).
