Pony Friendship Workshop

A hands-on equine activity for adults of all skill levels.

1.5 hours Location Galston Class size 1 to 12 (public classes), 4 to 40   $77 - $88 ($88 per guest when you book for 1+ guests, $77/guest for 5+ guests) (Afterpay available)

This workshop is ideal for friend groups, family or NDIS outings, where you will learn the secrets to connecting with animals in a sensitive and thoughtful way.
Our ponies all have different personalities, opinions and ideas of their own, just like people do! In this experience, you’ll learn how to safely befriend these sociable, curious animals.
You will be welcomed by your guide, Karri, a horse trainer, pony lover and local resident, at the Galston Rural Sports Facility. Here you will be introduced to our team of 3-5 ponies and learn about how they see the world and how we train them in a respectful and kind way.
Then it's your turn! You will be shown safe pony handling skills in an enclosed space, as well as how to groom and lead the ponies. We then go for a short walk around the grounds, and follow up with some horse agility obstacles and tricks. The activities will vary based on the group needs and abilities. We will then feed and water the ponies before saying goodbye.
There will be plenty of opportunity for photos.
This workshop provides an enjoyable and educational experience, where you will gain insight and awareness into how others experience the world, not only about equines but also how to relate to and empathise with other animals and people in our lives.
We look forward to your company! Private bookings are welcome and available most days of the week. Private bookings are available for families with children under 13 or see our Parents and Ponies Workshop.
Please note:
  • Minimum age is 13.
  • Our ponies are our cherished companions. Our ponies want to be treated with compassion and kindness at all times. This workshop does not include any riding.
  • Our activities are completely outdoors. We will go ahead in a sprinkle of rain, but adverse weather (such as storms, steady rain or excessive heat) will force us to postpone.
  • Our venue has ample parking, wheelchair-accessible restrooms and a small undercover area.
  • Our ponies may at first be wary of unusual wheelchairs or other walking aids. We will introduce them patiently and quietly to ensure that everyone feels safe and comfortable. Our group activities will vary based on the needs and abilities of our group to ensure everyone is included. Support workers and carers may attend for free (1 per guest).

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 3 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we may cancel the session; if that happens, we'll inform you and let you choose between a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.

  • 5/5 from Evelyn Paneras, attended Aug 2026: We had such a wonderful time at the Pony Friendship Workshop. The whole experience was well organised, fun and memorable. The ponies were adorable, gentle and very well cared for, and the hands-on activities were a real highlight. A truly special experience, we loved every minute and would happily recommend it!
  • 5/5 from Naomi Halligan, attended Jun 2026: Really fun! Super cute ponies. Thank you!
  • 5/5 from Vivian Ng, attended Apr 2026: We had an amazing day with Loriens Circle. My two girls, aged 5 and 7, had so much fun with the ponies and enjoyed quality time learning about them through lots of hands-on interaction. The ponies are all very well behaved and wonderful with children. Karri was especially helpful and accommodating. She really went above and beyond to make sure the kids had the best possible experience and created beautiful memories during their time there. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. Highly recommended!
  • 5/5 from Michelle Handosa, attended Mar 2026: We had a wonderful experience with the private pony lesson today. There were five of us, with kids aged 10, 8 and 4, and the whole session was thoughtfully tailored for our family. Things were clearly explained - how to treat the ponies, how to walk with them, and when they needed rest, which was a great learning experience for the kids. Everything was guided step-by-step, and the children learned a lot while enjoying every minute. Their individual needs were really well catered for, which made the experience feel very personal and relaxed. The kids absolutely loved all five ponies, and because everyone was listening and behaving well, we even got a special walk with them, which was such a lovely bonus. Communication beforehand was excellent and the whole activity was well organised. It was a beautiful, memorable experience for our family and we would highly recommend it to others looking for a fun and educational pony experience for their children
  • 5/5 from Mahta Ezabadi, attended Mar 2026: Karri is a great teacher, and she knows her horses well. We did a safety introduction+ how to first, then had a chance to introduce ourselves to the ponies and groom them. We did a walk and agility courses which were so fun! We also got to hose them off because it was a hot day.The ponies are very well trained and it was a great experience overall.
  • 5/5 from Melanie Brescia, attended Mar 2026: I had a wonderful time doing the Pony Friendship Workshop. It was such a fun, joyful experience getting to know the ponies and their personalities throughout the session. My friend and I started in a pen with 5 ponies and were able to steer them around the farm on a short walk as well as learn how to do some tricks with them. Karrie was a wonderful instructor and very kind and informative. She made us feel very safe and secure around the ponies and showed us everything we needed in order to handle them with care. We would definitely reccomend this experience if you are a horse or animal lover!
  • 5/5 from Crystal Morecroft, attended Mar 2026: We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Karri and the ponies! Karri was an incredible teacher—she answered every question our participants asked and showed so much patience, understanding, and kindness throughout the entire visit. She was very mindful of everyone’s comfort levels and never pushed any of our participants beyond what they felt ready for, which made the experience feel safe and enjoyable for all. Our participants with disabilities truly loved the opportunity to interact with the ponies. Lorien, Lunar, Loki, Tin Tin, and Timmie were all so gentle, calm, and friendly. It was beautiful to see the connections being made. Two of our participants were quite unsure of the ponies at first, but by the time we left they had completely fallen in love with them! It was such a positive, inclusive, and memorable experience for everyone involved. We would highly recommend this program and are very grateful for the care and effort Karri puts into making it so special.
  • 5/5 from Rowena Sequeira, attended Sep 2025: We had a mother daughter day and I'm so glad I booked the Pony Friendship Workshop with the lovely Carrie. We had the day to ourselves and we adored our ponies, Timmy and Timtim. Carrie showed us how to lead them and we even got to see them doing some fantastic tricks! It was a wonderful day to spend a Saturday afternoon and my daughter was thrilled. Would definitely love to book the Pony walk in the future.
  • 5/5 from Ray Ali, attended Mar 2024: Karri was so lovely in providing us an experience to connect and learn about these special animals. Karri was patient, knowledgeable and catered the experience to us. I would highly recommend her and the effort she makes.
  • 5/5 from Veronica Hind, attended Jan 2024: We loved it! Great experience for the quiet introvert child, these sessions are made with pony’s and kids in mind. They are small and personal and no expectations. Karri is super calm and patient also… no pressure for anything and the rest just follows. Also importantly, not a large (or even medium) group. Serenity session! It made for a great little bonding session for our small families. We really enjoyed it. Giddyup!
