Portraiture Lighting Photography Workshop

Learn how to shoot using portraiture lighting to create stunning photographs in Stanmore

6.5 hours Class size 5 to 12     label $250

So you have finally learnt to fire a strobe or use the manual exposure of your camera and you are all pumped to go and shoot photographs of your kids, friends, partner or maybe even a model.

You take the photo and it’s properly exposed. You are able to create some lighting effect, but then you feel that "something" is missing.

This missing piece is what we will be unravelling in this hands-on photography course in Stanmore.

In this six-hour workshop, we will create connected, emotional, face sculpting and environmental portraits. This will stretch your creativity a bit and also let you understand your inner style of working.

We will mostly be using artificial lighting hence a good understanding of lighting is an advantage. We strongly recommend doing our studio lighting workshop that happens a week earlier to get the best out of this unique experience.

Why should I attend?

  • Did you know that you can create expressions and emotions using the right lighting?
  • Did you know that you can sculpt faces using lighting?
  • Did you know that there are angles and modifications of lighting that can make skin look softer and better while photographing itself so that you do not have to retouch it?
  • Did you know that it is not just lighting skills but also subject handling skills that are needed to create portraits that stand out?

Let’s not waste our lighting skills on creating properly lighted but dull images. Learn how to create portraits that will speak for themselves.

After the workshop you should:
  • Be able to confidently add more lights to create additional shadows and highlights in portraits.
  • Be able to compare available light to manufactured lighting and at times mix them to create a mood.
  • Create mood and emotions in their portraits
  • Use soft lighting for environmental portraits.
