Prism and Piece Mosaic

We’re Naomi and Shaz, the creative duo behind Prism & Piece Mosaics.Between us, we bring a slightly unexpected combination of music, education, creativity and a very healthy obsession with colourful little pieces of tile!Naomi’s creative journey began around six years ago when she picked up a pair of tile cutters and completely fell in love with mosaics. What started as a little curiosity quickly became a full-blown obsession with finding tiles, experimenting with shapes, colours, textures and patterns, and discovering just how many different things could be created from seemingly unrelated pieces.Alongside her creative world, Naomi has been a private music teacher for almost 20 years. Teaching has always been a huge part of her life, and she loves creating spaces where people can learn something new while having fun and expressing themselves.Shaz brings more than 15 years of experience in education, working across Science, Mathematics, teaching and learning, instructional coaching and educational leadership. She has worked with students and teachers across a range of educational settings and has always been passionate about helping people discover that they are capable of more than they initially think.Between us, we bring almost 35 years of teaching experience, spanning private music education, classroom teaching, educational leadership and instructional coaching. Our professional backgrounds have taught us how to create workshops that are structured and supportive while still leaving plenty of room for individuality, experimentation and creativity.So, naturally, when our love of creativity and our love of teaching came together, Prism & Piece was born.We believe creativity isn't something reserved for people who already consider themselves "artistic". Sometimes you just need someone to give you the materials, show you how to get started and create an environment where you feel comfortable experimenting.That's what we want our workshops to be.A place to slow down, switch off, have a laugh, meet people, get a little messy and create something that is completely your own.We love the fact that no two pieces ever turn out the same. Give ten people the same collection of tiles and you'll get ten completely different creations. There are no perfect pieces, no wrong combinations and, occasionally, a tile that was definitely supposed to go somewhere else! For us, teaching is about much more than showing someone how to do something. It's about watching that moment when someone who started with "I'm not creative" looks at what they've made and says, "Wait... I actually made this!"That's the bit we love.Between us, we've spent decades teaching, creating, learning and working with people, and we're now bringing all of that together to build a creative community where people can come along, try something new and simply enjoy making.Whether you're joining us for a workshop, a celebration, a school holiday activity, a private group or a team-building experience, our hope is that you leave with something you've made, a few new skills, and a very good reason to come back and make another one.We're so excited to share our love of colour, creativity and mosaics with you.Naomi & Shaz
