Check your control freak at the door and surrender yourself to the free form medium of epoxy resin. In this workshop, we’ll teach you all the tips and techniques you need to work with the amazing fluid medium that is epoxy resin so that you can create your own one of a kind resin art. Whether you like your resin art abstract or if you prefer to create a more literal ocean or beach inspired piece, this class is for you.
What you will learn:
  • What resin is and how to safely work with it, - What surfaces are suitable for resin application, - How to properly mix your resin, - How to add different pigments to colour your resin and
  • The techniques used to create cells and lacing effects that replicate the whitewash of the ocean lapping on a beach.
We will have some shells and small rocks on hand to add to your artwork, we will show you how to properly apply these - feel free to bring along any you may have at home and want to incorporate into your artwork.
It can get a bit messy so don't dress to impress. Your boards will need 24 hours to dry, you will need to collect your pieces the following day. Postage can be arranged for an additional charge.
We believe craft is as much about creativity as it is about connection, in our workshops you have the opportunity to meet new friends, share a few stories, laugh with each other and simply enjoy some time out for yourself.
Please note: There are no refunds for classes but you are welcome to send someone else in your place if you can't make it on the day.
Knowledge required
No previous experience or skills required. All that you need is an open mind and a sense of adventure. This class is not recommended for pregnant women or children under the age of 16 years as chemicals are used.
 
What you'll get
Each participant will receive a 50cm art-board, resin, access to a large selection of pigment and powders to create your artwork.
 
What to bring
Please feel free to bring along your own shells or beach inspired decorations to add to your artwork, otherwise everything you need will be provided including an apron to wear during the workshop - it can get a bit messy so don't dress to impress, if you get resin on your clothes or shoes it won't wash off.

This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a date idea or hens party.

Made by Me Workshop is about helping people to connect with their "inner creative" and have some fun while making beautiful things from quality materials in our friendly & vibrant studio space in the heart of the inner west!
Established in 2017 after Rebecca Doyle decided to take a career break and chose to revisit her childhood love for arts & crafts. Rebecca grew up in a large family where money was tight, after school activities where mostly homegrown and usually involved a sheet of cardboard, a glue stick and some glitter! It is probably no surprise to learn that Rebecca followed a creative path to study Fashion & Textile Design at University!
After a few more decades (than Rebecca will publicly admit to) and a long and varied career in the fashion industry, Rebecca wanted to get back to creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind objects - Made By Me Workshop is the result of where this path led.
Rebecca loves that moment of pride that comes over each participant's face when they look at what they have created and say to themselves "Wow - I made this & I love it!"

Just wanted to know where is the closest parking if i decide to drive.

There is usually plenty of parking on site at Precinct 75 - there really isn't anyone else around on a Sunday so you can usually get a spot right in front of the studio - if not there is a car park on site.
