Resin River Charcuterie Board Workshop

Bring together the beauty of natural timber and the magic of epoxy resin to create your own River Board!

3 hours Location St Peters Class size 1 to 7 guests   $350 ($350 per class surcharge applies for private classes) (Afterpay available)

The combination of resin & timber to create stunning homewares is on trend, in this workshop you will create your own stunning charcuterie board to show off at your next party but you may decide is too beautiful to be hidden under your cheese and crackers!
This is the perfect class for people wanting to learn how to work safely and effectively with resin & timber, the lessons learnt in this workshop can be applied to other timber and resin projects including larger creations like a river table.
What you will learn:
  • What resin is and how to safely work with it
  • Which resins are suitable for creating river boards and tables
  • How to properly mix your resin
  • How to add different pigments to colour your resin
  • Instructions on how to sand and polish your board for best results.
Because your resin will need time to fully cure you will need to finish your piece at home, we will take you through the key steps to sand, polish and finish your piece at home. Depending on how much elbow grease you want to put into your finishing, you will need some wood working equipment at home - we will talk you through these options.
It can get a bit messy so don't dress to impress. Your boards will need 3 days to dry, you will need to collect your pieces at a later stage. Postage can be arranged for an additional charge.
We believe craft is as much about creativity as it is about connection, in our workshops you have the opportunity to meet new friends, share a few stories, laugh with each other and simply enjoy some time out for yourself.
This class is not recommended for pregnant women or children under the age of 16 years as chemicals are used.
What you'll get
We will supply an appropriately aged and season slab of timber, enough resin and pigments to create your board as well as use of all of the tools and equipment you will need in the workshop.
Please note each timber slab will be unique and may vary from class to class depending on availability at the time of the workshop. There is a lot of resin used in this workshop which contributes to the higher cost of this class compared with our art workshops.

  • 5/5 from Barbara Hastings, attended Aug 2023: Loved doing the resin board class! I’ve been wanting to do one for a long time. Rebecca is so knowledgeable about resin, which was great as a beginner. Her workshop is huge and spacious, so you feel free to work. The selection of resin colours and types was amazing! Though I have to sand and polish the board myself, I’m looking forward to doing that. Just know that you need to be able to finish the project at home. Otherwise, great course!

  • 5/5 from Peter Miniutti, attended Oct 2022: My teacher Rebecca was fantastic. She explained things very clearly, demonstrated the process and answered any questions I had. The venue was in a good location if coming by public transport, but parking for a 3 houre course could prove challenging for those without local knowledge. The rooms used for the activities were fine. Both the timber and resin supplied for the project were excellent. When you take in the cost of the materials and the time taken to produce the final product, I feel that the course is good value for money. I certainly learnt about the different types of resin and their uses. I really liked using a variety of materials to produce the end product.
  • 5/5 from Gary Westerland, attended Sep 2022: Rebecca was very helpful & informative. The workshop was enjoyable with lots of information. I had a great day and the workshop inspired me to do further resin projects.
  • 5/5 from Benjamin Mir, attended Sep 2022: Rebecca was absolutely amazing She was so informative and wanting to help. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and am looking forward to do further classes

  • 5/5 from Marg Marriott, attended Jan 2022: The venue was nicely air conditioned and we had a great experience making the river boards for our anniversary. The teacher was really accommodating and flexible to help us achieve what he had in mind. There was an abundance of resources to choose from and the technical information was very helpful. Because the cost of equipment is do high, this is a really valuable class for anyone wanting to try resin work with a skilled teacher to advise.

Made by Me Workshop is about helping people to connect with their "inner creative" and have some fun while making beautiful things from quality materials in our friendly & vibrant studio space in the heart of the inner west!
Established in 2017 after Rebecca Doyle decided to take a career break and chose to revisit her childhood love for arts & crafts. Rebecca grew up in a large family where money was tight, after school activities where mostly homegrown and usually involved a sheet of cardboard, a glue stick and some glitter! It is probably no surprise to learn that Rebecca followed a creative path to study Fashion & Textile Design at University!
After a few more decades (than Rebecca will publicly admit to) and a long and varied career in the fashion industry, Rebecca wanted to get back to creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind objects - Made By Me Workshop is the result of where this path led.
Rebecca loves that moment of pride that comes over each participant's face when they look at what they have created and say to themselves "Wow - I made this & I love it!"
Made by Me Workshop run a variety of creative workshops, hen’s parties, private parties and corporate events from their warehouse space in St Peters including Resin Art, Resin Jewellery & Mould Making, Soap Making, Terrazzo Homewares, Punch Needle, Macrame and many more.
