If your planet were wonderfully, ridiculously tiny, what would it look like?
Inspired by the Little Prince's extraordinary little planet, we'll give our little brave inventors the ultimate creative power: to imagine a tiny planet of our own and decide what belongs on it. In Tiny Planet Makers, children move from imagination to handmade model to 3D-printed object across two connected sessions. The course combines pop-up paper craft, storytelling, observation, and beginner-friendly technology.
Part one: Create your tiny pop-up planet
Children will:
  • Follow a simple demonstration to learn a 3D pop-up paper technique
  • Try the technique independently and build their own layered planet
  • Decorate their planet with colour, texture, and glow-in-the-dark paints
  • Give their planet a name and create a short story about it
  • Decide what belongs on their planet
  • Draw one special feature as a design brief for a small 3D-printed keepsake
Part two: Discover 3D printing
When children return after lunch break, they will:
  • Receive the small 3D-printed keepsake inspired by their drawing (pick up after one week)
  • Observe a real printer at work from a safe distance
  • Look closely at layers, movement, and material to work out how the machine builds an object
  • Discover, in simple language, how a computer turns a model into instructions the printer can follow
  • Explore prepared glow-in-the-dark 3D-printed objects
  • Present their tiny planet and its story in a friendly group show-and-tell
The keepsake will be a simplified 3D interpretation of the child's idea rather than an exact copy of the drawing. This lets children see how a creative idea changes as it moves through drawing, digital preparation, and physical making.
Part three: 3D modelling
For kids who already have a basic understanding of 3D printing, they will:
  • Learn basic modelling with TinkerCAD
  • Practice building their first simple 3D model (a keychain, simple aeroplane, or pencil holder)
  • Receive one printed version of their creation (available to pick up after a week)
What you'll get
  • A pop-up planet and its short story.
  • A small 3D-printed object connected to their world.
  • 01 Printed version of their creation (available to pick up after a week)
  • More importantly, they will have practised imagining, building, observing, explaining, and improving an idea.

Wonder Tinker is a creative making studio in Concord West for kids aged 5+, where children learn through hands-on projects that bring together art, design thinking, and simple technology.
We help children become confident creative thinkers by observing the world around them, asking thoughtful questions, making things with their hands, and bringing their own ideas to life.
In our classes, kids create toys, characters, machines, mini worlds, stories, prototypes, and simple tech enhanced projects that can move, light up, animate, or respond.
Our classes are designed to help children build confidence, curiosity, resilience, imagination, judgement, and original thinking.
We believe the future belongs not only to those who can find answers quickly, but to those who can ask remarkable questions, notice details, make creative connections, and develop their own taste.
