What you'll do
Make a fold-over, zipper clutch and zipper pouch in this full-day sewing workshop. Learn how to create functional, fun, and fashionable accessories while mastering sewing zippers. These designs are quick to sew up for when you need to make a handmade gift, a clutch to match an outfit, or to use up some small fabric pieces. This workshop is a perfect introduction to sewing regular zippers in a small-sized class of no more than 4 students.
You will make a small, flat-based pouch, approximately 20 x 14 cm. Our pattern is for a fully lined zipper pouch for a neat, professional finish, and you can also add a small pocket on the inside. The perfect zipper pouch for anything – keepsakes, makeup, sewing tools, jewellery, and more.
The second design is a zipper clutch in a fold-over design, making it compact while holding all your belongings safely inside. Make it casual or dressy, it is approximately 24 x 16.5 cm folded and 24 x 29 cm flat. You can choose to arrange your fabric in a few different designs. It is fully lined to teach you professional finishing techniques.
You will need to bring along your choice of fabrics and matching zippers. All patterns and heavy, sew-in interfacing are provided.
Please note, you need to have recent sewing experience to attend this workshop. This workshop is suitable for sewists of a beginner level or more. You should be of at least a beginner level and able to set up and operate a sewing machine independently. If you would like to learn how to sew to attend this workshop or you need a refresher, you can attend our Introduction to Sewing Course.
About Catherine Carter
Catherine has been sewing as far back as she can remember. She graduated with honours at East Sydney Technical College, Darlinghurst, with a diploma in “Fashion Design”. She established (many years ago) and is still running a successful business, “Catherine Carter”, specialising in made-to-measure garments. She is still as passionate as ever. Catherine enjoys sharing her enthusiasm, knowledge, and creativity and finds it extremely rewarding seeing the progress that each person makes.
