Beginner sewing classes in Coffs Harbour and Woolgoolga, where you'll learn the basics of using a sewing machine in a relaxed, beginner-friendly environment. Enjoy step-by-step support to help you feel confident and successful. You can come to our venue, or we come to you!
You’ll choose to create one of the following projects and take it home at the end of the class:
  • Tote bag
  • Cushion cover
No prior sewing experience is needed; this workshop is designed especially for beginners.
What you will learn:
  • How to thread a sewing machine
  • How to wind a bobbin
  • Simple pattern making
  • Fabric cutting
  • Straight-stitch sewing
  • Finishing seams
By the end of the class, you’ll leave with a new skill set and a beautiful handmade project—and the confidence to keep sewing at home.
What you'll get
  • All materials for sewing projects are provided.
  • You get to take home your sewing project created in class.
Knowledge required
No prior experience necessary.
What to bring
  • Your sewing machine and all accessories.
  • Sewing kit (pins, scissors, measuring tape, chalk, etc), alternatively, you can purchase one in class.

Hi, I’m Nancy! I’m an experienced crochet and sewing teacher, qualified in fashion design, dressmaking, and patternmaking. My professional background also includes nursing, counselling, and adult education, which gives me a unique perspective on supporting individuals and groups of diverse needs and abilities.
I’ve loved everything to do with fabrics and yarn since childhood—designing, creating, and teaching. My grandmother taught me to crochet lace collars and doilies when I was seven, and I picked up knitting and sewing in my teens. After years of home sewing, I pursued formal studies in fashion and started my dressmaking business from home while raising my children. I also volunteered in schools, teaching hand sewing and crochet.
A highlight of my creative journey was crocheting a christening dress that won First Prize at the Royal Adelaide Craft Show—such an exciting moment where my design and skills were recognised!
As a self-care practitioner, I understand the positive impact creativity has on overall wellbeing, especially mental health. Today, my focus is entirely on teaching, inspiring creativity, and promoting self-sufficiency through sewing and crochet workshops for both kids and adults.
I still make my own clothes and love integrating dressmaking techniques with crochet and knitting. Several years ago, I founded SNS Courses with the goal of creating digital courses, and it quickly grew into a thriving hands-on business as well.
