Looking for fun Sydney activities? Atolya invites you to an encounter with the traditional art form of silk painting.

In this unique half-day art class, you will learn how to create your own silk painting (55cm x 55cm) which you may take home and either frame and display or wear as a silk scarf.

The technique that you will be using is called gutta, which is a thick, latex substance that is applied to the silk habutai fabric and once dried, it hardens and forms a painting. You will be using gutta with H Dupont Classique Silk Dyes. Don't worry if you're a beginner. You will be guided through the process and introduced to the concepts.

In the first half of the class, you will trace the design onto the silk and apply the gutta. Then afterwards, you will paint the silk, where you will have a variety of templates and colours to choose from to make your painting.

With no prior experience necessary, come and discover a whole new craft with your loved ones this weekend!
