What you'll learn

This mixed-level course is a great opportunity to work on your own jewellery project or start a new project while learning new skills and enjoying the company of others who love to work with metal.

It is a small, intimate class where you can learn from a professional and passionate jeweller and get help to accomplish your project.

In each lesson, we will explore jewellery design, be inspired by other projects, share tips and tricks and celebrate the art of jewellery making.

Finish off your unfinished project or start a completely new one. Turn your hobby and passion into a business or just enjoy the company of other artists.

Course content

What will be covered in this silver jewellery workshop?

 A range of the topics that you might expect in the workshop:

  • Metal cutting and forming
  • Ring sizing
  • Texturing and stamping
  • Soldering 
  • Drilling
  • Forming – how to shape and dome metal
  • Use the hydraulic press to form metal
  • Polishing and Finishing – how to file, use emery paper and get the perfect shine
  • Build on your jewellery-making skills and apply new techniques to aid you with your self-directed project

Intended audience

Who is this silver jewellery workshop for?

This workshop is open for anyone who has attended one of our silver jewellery beginners courses (Silver Jewellery Making: Beginners Jewellery Workshop or Silver Jeweller Making Course: Beginners 101), or has completed an equivalent course.

Please note that is course is not suitable for students under the age of 18yrs.

Rozelle Campus

2A Gordon Street, Rozelle NSW 2039 (corner of Gordon St & Victoria Rd on the grounds of St. Joseph's Church)

Materials provided

  • The workshop space includes the necessary tools and equipment
  • Professional help and assistance by one of our experienced jewellers

What to bring to class

  • A silver jewellery project that you are working on OR a new project idea
  • Materials needed for your project, such as silver-, copper or brass sheets, saw blades, sandpaper etc.
  • Apron to protect your clothes

Additional information

Please note the following:

  • Please wear closed-in shoes and long hair must be tied back
  • Other silver materials can be purchased from Palloys
  • Limited supplies of silver and saw blades are available to purchase from the College. 
  • All our silver jewellery courses are limited to 8 places which enable the tutor to give each student plenty of one-to-one guidance and instruction.

All students must be over 18+ years of age.

Session repeats

This class series runs over 6 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.

Suitable for

This class is perfect for beginners - no prior experience is needed.

This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a date idea, team building activity, Christmas party or hens party.
