Choose Your Glass Pieces
Select from a variety of pre-cut shapes (squares, diamonds, unique off-cuts).
Plan how they’ll fit together into your design.
Apply Copper Foil
Wrap each piece of glass with adhesive copper foil.
Press it down smoothly to prepare for soldering.
Flux & Solder the Pieces Together
Apply flux (a liquid that helps the solder flow).
Use a soldering iron to melt solder along the copper foil, joining the pieces.
Attach Hook or Stake
Add a hook to hang your sun catcher or attach the rod for a plant stake.

Mai Oshima, born in Japan and now living in Sydney, Australia, has been a glass maker and designer since 2013. Specialising in glass jewellery inspired by the Australian coast, especially the Northern Beaches, she blends her passion for surfing with her art. Mai completed her bachelor’s degree in fine arts in Glass in Japan and has more than 20 years of experience in glass. Her experience as a glass instructor in Japan has made her passionate about teaching and sharing her craft.
