Term 4 Weekly TUESDAY Drawing Class

Realistic drawing classes for children (age 8-17)

9 x 1.5 hours Class size 1 to 5

label $225 (or 4 payments of $56.25 Afterpay)

The weekly classes run alongside the QLD state school terms and are perfect for kids aged 8 to 17 years old.

Unlike some other children's art classes where kids can simply attend and draw some pictures while playing, my classes are unique in that I teach realistic artistic foundations of drawing. Through step by step methods I offer individual attention for every single child.

Most children seem to drop art around the age of 10, because they suddenly realise that their work is not realistic as they wish it to be. Children who receive the opportunity to learn realistic skills at this age advance greatly. Yet research clearly shows that art students outperform art poor students on many levels including mathematics and problem solving.

During these sessions, I will be going through the fundamental theory in realistic drawing, for example, how to measure the proportion, how light and shadow take effects on different items, how to create professional outlines. I will set aside time in each session to go through the theory, after which I will work with my student to use what they have learned to finish a particular exercise. There will also be sessions where students can bring examples of drawings they'd like to do, and I'll help them to achieve great results.

What to bring
You will need to bring your own materials to classes. We have found that children take greater care of materials if they own them. It also allows them to study techniques at home through the week if they want to. Material list can be located on my website.

This class series runs over 9 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.

Rain Shi
Rain Shi

Rain Shi is an emerging artist, who primarily uses pencils, colour pencils, and oils in her works. She is fluent in Mandarin and English. While learning under artist Martina Pook, Rain has discovered the lack of professional art instructors on the Gold Coast who can teach children how to draw realistically. She then made the decision to seize the chance and impart her wisdom to the next generation.

Rain has two small children, therefore she is very aware of and passionate about children's learning and development. She feels incredibly privileged to be assisting young people in discovering their love of the arts and in learning the fundamentals of realistic drawing. She is interested about fostering children's creativity and the arts through efficient teaching methods so that they may develop their problem solving abilities, which they can utilize throughout their life.
