Indian food connoisseur, cook and writer, Bhavna Kalra, invites foodies for a informative and delicious class on Indian cooking using seasonal vegetables.

If you are someone who loves ordering a Curry, fancy cooking it, or just enjoy eating delicious, authentic, and hearty Indian food, then this class is made for you!

In this five-hour cooking class, you will:

  • Discover the food history of the Indian dishes we will be cooking
  • Learn about “Spices 1, 2, 3” - a valuable rundown on spices you need to cook a hearty Indian meal and where to find them
  • Practice Indian cooking techniques and learn tips and tricks;
  • Enjoy eating one of the best six-course Indian Feast ever!

After the class, you will come away with knowledge on how to easily prepare your delicious curries, Dals, and meat-based dishes. We hope this will then motivate you to add a wholesome, healthy Indian way of cooking to your home-cooked, fresh meals.

This class will also give you the confidence to be familiar with spices and lentils that you can use when cooking other dishes and cuisine.

On the menu:
  • Dal Fry in Instant pot
  • A delicious vegetable dish (one of our most popular dishes)
  • Chickpeas or jackfruit curry with the base sauce
  • Lemon rice or Spinach & Corn rice
  • Mushroom Or Paneer OR Chicken Korma
  • Cabbage Stuffed flatbread

If you are doing a group booking for six, we can change the menu as per your requirement. We also cater to food intolerance, so let us know if you cannot have one of the dishes below and we will arrange something else for you.

Please note:
  • This is not a 100% hands-on class.
  • All the vegetables etc will be chopped so there will be minimal handling of common ingredients
  • This course is suitable for people who are gluten intolerant, vegan, and/or vegetarian.
  • In unforeseen circumstances should we have to reschedule the class, we will notify you in advance and give you new dates to choose from.



Knowledge required
  • Beginners OR experts who want to learn how to get started OR learn more about Indian cuisine.
  • Kids over 13 years welcome, as long as accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Suitable for

This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a team building activity, birthday, hens party or bucks party.

Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 13 years old). An adult must accompany any attending kids, and must pay for a separate ticket.

This would also be a nice gift for her, gift for mum or anniversary gift.

This class was an amazing, fun and informative intro to the world of Indian cooking. In addition to being a fantastic cook and great teacher, Bhavna was a wonderful host and entertainer.

The 5 hour class flew by as we laughed and chatted while making a range of delicious, authentic and practical Indian dishes, while learning the history and origins of the ingredients and methods. To finish it off, we got a feast of great food at the end, with plenty of leftovers to take home. I can't recommend this class highly enough for a really enjoyable day!

Bhavna welcomed us into her beautiful home and instantly we were captivated by her kind, welcoming energy.

Heading into the class, I was really excited to learn how to cook some delicious dishes but most of all was hoping to learn about the application of different spices and techniques. Bhavna took her time explaining techniques, traditions and the history of various dishes to our intimate class of four. I particularly loved learning about the misconceptions we have about Indian food in Australia!
During the class we all were able to have a turn being hands on to make each dish which was super fun.

I took my Dad for his birthday and it was such a fun, practical thing to do together. We had a great time and I feel like even without following the recipes in the book Bhavna had kindly already typed up for us, my new knowledge of how spices and ingredients work together will help me whip up a delicious Indian dish!

I have to say this was the most enjoyable, fun and informative class I have attended in a long time. Not only was I entertained non stop for hours by our teacher/cook/entertainer, I took away new skills and knowledge beyond what I expected. What a fantastic way to spend a Sunday in Sydney- learnt so much, not just about how to cook Indian like a homecook in India would do, but learnt about health benefits of so many spices and fantastic natural remedies, and fascinating history behind the food. Absolutely fantastic experience. Bhavna is an incredible teacher, cook and host. Her knowledge is deep and so is her passion to share it with her students. We left with a greater understanding of how to use spices, how to create very easy vegetarian dishes that can be customised to our tastes and lots of handy tips and techniques for a home cooking experience. We gained a lot of confidence during this class and left wonderfully full with lots of delicious left overs and treats.
