The Family Billy-Cart Challenge

Looking for a family experience that's a little different? Swap screen time for some good old-fashioned hands-on fun and spend the day designing, building and bringing your own billy cart to life. The Family Billy Cart Challenge is a private, full-day creative experience designed for families who love getting creative, working together and having lots of fun along the way. With expert guidance from Katie at Girl & Grain, your family will learn practical woodworking skills, get hands-on and work together to create a full-sized billy cart that's yours to keep.No experience necessary. Just your team, a sense of fun and the joy of making something together! At Girl & Grain, we believe there's something pretty special about making something with your own hands. Our mission is simple: to share the joy of making! It's about getting creative, learning something new, surprising yourself with what you can do and experiencing that wonderful sense of satisfaction when something you've made comes together. And we think those experiences are even better when they're shared. What to expect:In our session, your family (up to five - two adults and three kids) will start the morning by making your own miniature balsa wood billy carts to race down a ramp. Using a selection of craft materials, a hot-glue gun and miniature wheels and axles, you'll create your own individual model-sized billy carts. See whose goes fastest, whose runs off track, whose has the best aerodynamics or whose flips over?!Go Big - Build your family billy cartAfter our morning session on mini-making, we'll work together to assemble (pre-cut) plywood components into one seriously impressive, full-sized billy cart, with guidance from Girl & Grain founder and experienced woodworking educator Katie. Let's bring it to life! There are plenty of opportunities for your family's imagination to run wild and really have fun. From using tools to assemble the body, building and decorating the spoiler, constructing the winner's trophy or bringing the aesthetic personality to the cart, there's a way for everyone to contribute!Once your billy cart is assembled and the paint has dried, let's give it a test drive! Katie will show you the best local spot to take your billy cart for its first cruise.
