We're Kala Ellis and Nick Gell, the founders of The Place - a creative studio in Lewisham, Sydney, and home to WHODUNIT @ THE PLACE, our fully hosted, live murder mystery experience for private groups.
Nick is a NIDA-trained actor, performer, musician and professional MC who has worked across stage and television for more than two decades. He regularly hosts live events for Inner West Council and creative arts organisations around Australia, and has taught drama for over a decade, including at NIDA Open. Kala is an AWGIE Award-winning screenwriter and producer whose credits include creating and writing comedy series Spreadsheet (Channel 4 UK), writing Austin (ABC/BBC), and producing factual television at Northern Pictures.
Between us, we've spent our careers writing, producing, performing and entertaining audiences.
WHODUNIT grew out of wanting to combine the things we know best - storytelling, performance and bringing a room of people together - into something genuinely fun and social.
We create every mystery from scratch, with original characters, plots, secrets, physical clues and puzzles. Guests become the characters themselves, receiving private information as the story unfolds, questioning each other, uncovering evidence and trying to work out who is lying.
"The Vanishing Point" is the first WHODUNIT mystery available to book at The Place, set at the private view of an elusive street artist whose identity is finally about to be revealed.
Part murder mystery. Part escape room. Part social deduction game. Every booking is private to your group and fully hosted from beginning to end.
