Three-step Ladder Box Making

This live streaming course is tailored for crafters who are interested to learn how to make a ladder box by using decorative papers and glue! No prior experience is required, just lots of patience and enthusiasm.

During this online two-session course, we will be making a three-step ladder box (the final box size is approx 9cm x 9cm x 14cm). Your teacher, Cyrus Pang, will teach you all about how to make a box from scratch. There will be lots of cutting involved using a cutter/blade, cutter mat and a steel ruler.

The course will predominantly consist of teacher demonstrations and explanations, and you will be able to follow along each step of the way. If you are unable to work along during the class, just watching is a good option too. The two classes will be recorded and you will be able to practice what we've covered on your own afterwards.

An email will be sent to your registered email address two to three days prior to the class, including:

• A PDF handout
• The class Zoom link
• A short video (approx. five minutes) about board cutting preparation

After the online course, you will have all the skills to continue making boxes in different sizes using the same techniques.

Please note: The Zoom course will be recorded. If you are unable to watch live, you may still take the classes. Links for the videos will be sent to you after the course has ended and expire in two weeks.

This is a beginner-friendly class and does not require any knowledge.
 

• A4 box boards.
• Japanese Chiyogami paper or handmade marbling paper.
• Plain box making paper.
• Ribbon or thread.

Papers are NOT in full sheets but will be enough for you to create one box according to the tutor's cutting dimensions and instruction.

• Box boards
• Sharp cutting blade and extra blades
• Scalpel #3 handle and #11 blade
• Sharp scissors
• PVA glue
• Decorative papers (Marbling paper, Chiyogami paper or Lokta paper)
• Cheap brush for applying glue
• Bone folder
• Paper towel
• Old magazine/newspaper
• Pencil
• Steel ruler (at least 30cm)
• Cutting mat (minimum A3 size)
• Ribbon (optional)
• Japanese Screw Punch or Awl (optional)

This class series runs over 2 consecutive days.
