Join us at Tufttea, Sydney's trendiest tufting studio, for a beginner's guide to rug-making!
Our hands-on tufting workshop is the perfect place for you to spend fun quality time with your friends and loved ones so that you can all unleash your creativity and create a cool rug that's totally unique to you.
In our hands-on class, our experienced instructors will show you how to create a custom tufted rug on a 60x60cm frame. You'll create your own design, choose your own yarn colours, operate the tufting machine, and learn the techniques for cleanly finishing off your tufted piece with backing and shaving.
Kick back and relax, and enjoy some snacks and drinks. All materials and tools are provided, so all you need to bring is your creative energy and enthusiasm!
You will also be able to bring the rug back home with you straight after your session!
Please note: The workshop price is catered to a maximum of two people to share one frame and tufting gun. Feel free to bring along a friend or partner to tuft together for the price of one! The workshop should take
approximately three to four and a half hours, however, this depends on an individual's tufting speed and design choice.

Awesome experience! Edlyn and Asad were super friendly and helpful, they even brought out snacks mid session for everyone. The mats came out really nice and I am extremely happy with the result. Would definitely do it again and can recommend to anyone who is thinking of trying out Tufting.

Had a great time, the instructors set up our canvas ahead of time and have us good tips and tricks for how to tuft our rug. The hardest part was trimming, but you can pay to get them to do it for you if you prefer. A fun activity with friends, and a super cool keepsake based on your own interests!
Had a great afternoon at Tuftea Studio today. The tutors led us through using the equipment, creating our rugs and then finishing them. They constantly checked that we were ok and feeling confident. I love my rug, and I am already planning doing another class with my daughter.

Love love loved the class! My brother and I did it for my birthday and Edlyn was so nice to us. The space was really cool and so was the music (we asked them to share their playlist with us)
Had a great afternoon with my 14 yr old son who chose to do a tufting class. I had never heard of tufting before. The staff were lovely, young and very helpful. It was easy to learn and we left with a rug we were very happy with. There were plenty of beautiful yarn colours to choose from. The venue in North Strathfield had a great vibe with large mural paintings on the wall and music. It was easy to find parking nearby as well as cafes and restaurants to eat. I was really happy with our choice to do this class.

We loved our tufting experience at tuftea! The teachers were so helpful and patient with us, didn’t rush us at all to finish. We arrived to our sketches already done so we got right into the fun bit. Highly recommend! Good vibes and snacks.
Had a great time at Tuftea studio! Everyone there was super supportive and knowledgeable - fun to talk to as well :). The space is a nice and chill - a great way to spend a couple hours on Sunday. Making my carpet was really fun :)
The instructors were knowledgable and helpful with how to use the tufting gun and came around regularly to check your progress. There is a big selection of colours for the yarn and the class environment was freindly and chill.
While the class offers excellent value, it may be a bit pricey to do again.

A super fun and reasonably challenging experience.
After some initial instructions you're all set to tuft away, with the instructors coming around with suggestions for how to make your rug turn out better. I'm very satisfied with how cute the rug came out, even with all my wobbly lines. Though there's a lot of yarn colour options, you are limited by what they have available so choose carefully~

The activity turned out to be way more fun and bonding for all of my friends.

went out of my comfort zone, doing a class on my own, I was none the wiser. The instructors were incredibly welcoming making me feel like I’d been there before. They have great advice, great instructions and only want you to get the best out of the class. I’m going back to Tassie with a cute rug!
I went with my mum and brother for my mum’s birthday. We all really enjoyed the experience. The 3 teachers Edlynn, Zakee and another teacher I didn’t get the name of were all really helpful and nice. Edlyn, Asad & Zakee were all very knowledgable and friendly. They provided a very fun and exciting experience for our first tufting workshop!
