I am a beginner and she taught in a way that I felt I was understanding the different techniques and their uses. A real bonus to have a portrait of Percy my dog at the end of the lesson. The watercolour was not totally complete in the lesson but I felt confident enough to continue on my own. The brushes and paint were a welcomed bonus. Thank you so much

Although I had no prior experience, Blythe was patient and well-prepared. She modelled different techniques and provided clear instructions that made it easy to follow along. All materials were provided and we could take home our watercolour brushes and a colour palette. Following our workshop, Blythe sent an email providing a list of suggested materials for those that wanted to continue exploring watercolour painting. By the end of the session I walked away with a painting that I never imagined I could produce. Highly recommended!

Blythe was incredibly patient and full of energy, encouraging us to be bold and keep going when we felt stuck. We were genuinely surprised by what we created (with a bit of her help!) and are now so excited to frame and hang our painting of our beloved cat in the living room.

The class was better for someone who had a bit of basic knowledge of watercolour painting as attempting to do an animal is probably not the easiest for a complete beginner (which I was), so I found the course way too detailed and full on whereas my daughter who had done a few water colour pieces before and had already learnt the basics of mixing paints and doing various textures, to be a good fit for her.

Blythe was a great teacher, patiently explaining all the methods & techniques to paint our dogs. She was great at explaining in-depth at what she was doing and then coming over to fix any problems we were encountering or answering any questions that we had. Would highly recommend this class to anyone who is interested in watercolours. We didn't finish our paintings during our time in the class, but are well equipped to finish them off in our time using the techniques Blythe has taught us.

We had fun but also learnt so much. She went above and beyond (e.g. accommodating some last minute picture changes for us, supporting dietary requirements, staying back longer to help us, sending through information/resources after class etc). Would absolutely recommend this class to everyone :)

Was so privileged to have a one to one session with Blythe who took the time to share principles in not just water colour techniques, but also in drawing. She was well prepared, showed a lot of patience and provided great tips and tricks along the way. She really removed my fear of working with colour and I learned so much! Great studio, loves that I walked away with a piece of work I can continue to finesse. Ample snacks and fluids to keep my focused. Great location. Hope to go again soon. The venue was condusive, spacious, clean and quiet for painting. there was easy parking nearby and heaps of cafes around. Blythe was excellent and very patient. She was very well prepared and provided me with heaps of options on whether I preferred to draw my pet from scratch (and she taught a lot of fundamental principles and precise techniques for drawing animals) OR, to jump straight into painting. She had a print out and pencil sketch of my pet (both matched in A4 size for easy reference) already prepared for this option. She provided me with watercolour paper, a set of paintbrushes, a pre-prepared a palette of paint colours (from tubes). Her instructions were spot on - she painted by example (she had another sketch of my pet on a separate piece of watercolour paper), so I could mirror her techniques and brush strokes step by step on my own piece of artwork. The class of 3.5 hours was good value. I was the only student there so it was a very dedicated and focussed class on what I needed to learn to achieve the goal of painting my pet. We focussed on shape, colours, tone, techniques for the eyes, nose and tongue. I never realised how difficult I found it to paint a dog's open mouth (the staffy grin). I also gained confidence with painting as I am quite hesitant and restrained wth watercolours. I really liked how well prepared and committed to the session (and to my needs) Blythe was. She was very encouraging and patient. When I mentioned I didn't enjoy precision drawing and would rather skip that process to start painting, she already anticipated that (not everyone likes drawing, hahaha) and had the pre-sketched version all ready to paint. She shared her artist skills and tricks with me. And also provided nibbles. I was not able to complete the entire painting within the time but it was a very satisfying achievement overall. Thank you.

I enjoyed how Blythe was able to add a few lines and directions that really helped guide the painting in the right direction. Materials and snacks were provided and with all of this it was great value for money. We both came away with a lovely painting of our pets and several new skills

It was a totally absorbing few hours. I had done some basic online watercolour workshops (also from ClassBento) some time ago but was keen to refresh my skills and build more. Blythe put a lot of effort into explaining and demonstrating aspects for me. Very pleased with my painting so far! Blythe also sent some great follow up notes about the materials we used.

My expectations of the finished portrait were quite low, only due to my lack of artist ability - but with Blythe’s help my painting is instantly recognisable as my pet, and quite beautiful. She included a lot of thoughtful touches in the class, such as snacks and plenty of take home materials. I would really recommend this class to anyone!

I’ve always used acrylics, so working through a different medium was challenging but so much fun. All paints and tools were provided & she even gave me some tips on what best equipment I should add to my own art kit once I start practicing watercolour a bit more.
