It is easy to become frustrated and despondent when starting out with watercolours. Beginner's classes often consist of endless colour wheels you don't quite understand before you even get to paint a thing.
But there are some fun hacks you can learn, to get results fast. The use of washes and colour and blending can create something appealing and worth putting in a frame.
This friendly live streaming class will get you started painting flowers, leaves, shapes, patterns and textures from the get-go and is lots of fun and absorbing. A perfect gift to cheer a friend, colleague or loved one or as a fun activity for your next get together.
During this live online class, you will:
- Learn how to put a beginners kit together on the cheap
- Find out about materials and grades of paper and watercolour

Pamela was very patient and explained everything in great detail. Most of the practice pieces went well except my final attempt at a peony was a disaster.
The kit received was great and included the majority of what was needed, the rest was easy to find at home.
Note to Bento, it would be great if the link in the initial email sent for the booking would have linked to the class, I was a bit late to the session as I didnt realise it would not work and had to find the right email. Suggest maybe also allowing a Add to Google calendar option as other training sessions have.

Pamela is an excellent teacher and although I suspect from the questions and comments some other participants were not absolute beginners, I certainly am. Pamela took us through various techniques, explaining both the materials and effects she was developing with us. My first activity looked pretty ordinary but by the end of the lesson I was stunned that I was able to make a pretty good attempt at painting a peony. Materials were great - paints and papers although the little brush was a bit of a handicap but convinced me I need to buy a better brush Thanks for a great experience.
I answered no to the team bonding question as this was both an individual activity and of course limited by Zoom. Would be great fun as a team.

Lots of fun and great information. The kit was sent quickly and I had it 2 days before my class. Logging on to the zoom class was easy and straightforward. Pamela was so friendly and engaging. Like the title says this class is for absolute beginners. This class was a really good introduction to watercolour painting - covering the tools and equipment you'd need to get started with watercolour painting. Pamela ran through a number of different techniques that we practiced alongside her; and at the end of the class we painted a large flower together. I've decided to join her watercolour flowers class to learn a bit more about this medium. A fun way to spend a couple of hours via zoom. The supplied kit had everything we needed for the class and then enough paint & paper left over to practice some things on our own afterwards.

Pamela was so knowledgeable about watercolours and her class was definitely pitched at the right level. She had an extremely well structured and organised set of activities to build your confidence and experiences with watercolours, so that afterwards, when you are on your own, you could experiment and build your skills at your own pace. She also answered all questions in a pleasant and patient manner and sent us a list of equipment and tips via email after the lesson. Lastly, the class went a little longer than was scheduled, which I thought showed how enthusiastic and focused on sharing her craft she is. Highly recommended.

Pamela covered an extra ordinary amount of information in the allotted 2 hour workshop. I loved the inspirational notebook with watercolour pieces that she showed us at the end. That might have been nice to see at the beginning while she was talking about paper and watercolour selection. Very happy that she said she would provide a list or recommended materials - so look forward to receiving that. Understanding and very encouraging - I’d definitely like to do Pamela’s class in the next level up in Watercolours in a month or two. Thank you for delivering the excellent kit, too,

Pamela pitched the information perfectly for beginners, explaining the basic tools and how to use them, what they do - paper, paint and brushes. The small project at the end was fun, and confidence building, it would have been nice if we could have done one more to really get a 'feel' for what water colours can achieve. Time goes so quickly though and that can't be helped.

I have been playing with watercolours for many years. In two hours, Pamela was able to explain and demonstrate both how watercolours work and techniques to use to create different effects. A really great introduction to techniques for novices - like me. Pamela was informative and went at a good pace. Well set up online with 2 camera views (face and hands/paper), so you could clearly see the techniques as Pamela discussed them.
Highly recommend this course if you've never picked up a paint brush (like me), or exploring a new medium. I also recommend buying the kit. You use all items during the class and the paper is already prepped for you.

The teacher was very knowledgeable about her subject and worked well with the livestream. She kept a reasonable pace for learning and allowed time for any questions. The box was well put together and contained 95% of what was needed (and 100%of what needed to be bought). Technical delays were due to user lack of familiarity with Zoom not the teacher's issues. The camera was angled perferctly so you could see her paints, paper and hands and learn what she was doing. Would highly recommend to an absolute beginner or relative beginner and I will try another course now. I love my peony painting and can't believe I achieved this from 1 lesson.

Pamela did an excellent job leading the class on the fundamentals of watercolors. She explained the importance of using high quality watercolor paper (heavy weight paper with glycerin coating to slow water absorption), how to identify a good paint brush (bristles that return to true after bending) and the difference in cost/quality of water color paints.
She also demonstrated various techniques such as wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, watercolor mechanics, masking with wax, texturing with salt as well as others. Her camera set up gave us a bird eye view of her canvas, and she clearly explain what she was doing. It was very easy to follow along and practice.
Overall I’m very happy with the class and it greatly exceeded my previous experience self learning watercolor.

Great introduction to watercolours. Pamela showed us lots of techniques we can build on. Including a painting of flowers to finish off.
