What you'll do
Do you think you can't draw? I can challenge that thought and show you that, with the Zentangle Method, you can create beautiful images using patterns and shading.
In this class, we will use two main patterns and embellish and shade to create a lovely piece of art. Together we will look at the pattern structure and the Zentangle method of drawing, shading tips and techniques and create a piece I call What A Saga.
Join me for a little over an hour of relaxed creativity and learn that 'anything is possible, one stroke at a time'.
The Zentangle Method is easy to learn, relaxing and a fun way to create beautiful images using structured patterns. Almost anyone can use it to create art. The method also improves focus and creativity, provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well-being. The Zentangle Method is enjoyed all over the world across a wide range of skills, interests and ages.
This lesson is designed for all age groups, and it is said often that if you can write your name, you can create art with the Zentangle Method.
Follow along with me to learn this fabulous drawing method and have fun making art. I hope my passion for this method makes its way to you, and you will be keen to give some more complicated projects a try.

Knowledge required
The intro class always helps but isn't essential. Otherwise, no previous knowledge or skills are required.
What you'll get in your craft kit
- 1 x Black Pigma Micron 01 fine line pen
- 1 x Mini Graphite pencil
- 2 x Tortillons (blender)
- 1 x white gel pen
- 2 x Tan 9x9cm square Zentangle Tiles
- 1 x White chalk pencil
What you'll need
If you are using your own supplies, the materials required are at least good paper to draw on, though a 9x9cm artist tile would be best. - A black fineliner pen sized 01 to draw with, but if all you have is a black pen, that's fine too. - An HB or 2B pencil and something to blend with. - A white gel pen and a white chalk or pastel pencil. - A blending stump, a tortillon, or even a cotton bud will suffice. Have two different blending stumps, one each for the graphite and white chalk.If you are interested in purchasing Zentangle products, please message me and I'll send a list of my stocked items and prices.

Your teacher
I wanted to be an artist practically all my life but had lived a very logic brained existence as a BAS Agent/Bookkeeper amongst other similar roles. I ran my own business for sixteen years but lock downs (in Melbourne) created a very different work life for me. I worked harder than ever, because I became a key support for my clients through all the ups and downs of Government assistance. It actually wore me out. BUT, I discovered the Zentangle® Method early on in 2021 and became obsessed.
I had no formal art training, knew nothing of media or styles and to be honest, I didn't really think I had any talent. I could draw a pretty good doodle tree but that was it. Then one day when I was learning how to do bullet journalling, I stumbled on Zentangle and instantly fell in love. Here was a drawing method I could follow, easily, and wow! I actually created art. I had finally found something that satisfied my creative need and also helped me keep my cool while we battled the Covid phenomenon.
I was so inspired by the community I became part of I headed off to Newport, Rhode Island in 2023 to become qualified to teach this method. Now I am a Certified Zentangle® Teacher who is very excited to share this incredible art form and method with anyone who will sit still long enough with me to learn.
