If you've thrown on the wheel before, and you want to continue to refine your skills, then this four-week course is for you.
Your tutor will demonstrate how to develop your throwing skills on the pottery wheel to make ceramic bowls and larger pieces. Learn to throw off the hum, manage larger amounts of clay on the wheel and throw lidded vessels or donuts. You’ll then trim and turn your best pots, have them bisque fired and then you can glaze And decorate them, ready for their final firing, to pick up later.
This class is limited to six students per class, so you'll get the attention you need.
Over 6 weeks, you'll be able to use studio tools and 10 kilos of stoneware clay to make your pieces and be able to fire your best 8 pieces, in your choice from four studio glazes (or use your own).
Sustainability is very important to us, so all unfired clay is reused and we recycle most of our water too.
Please note:
  • You can purchase more clay at $25 a bag. You can also purchase your own pottery tool starter kit.
  • You must be available on scheduled days (no makeup classes).
What you'll get
Attendees will get lots of pottery wheel practice and up to 10 fired pieces of ceramics.
Knowledge required
You should be comfortable with centring clay on the pottery wheel. We recommend trying out our beginners wheel throwing course first!
What to bring
An old shirt/or a cloth apron and an old towel. We recommend relaxed fitted pants/trousers for wheel throwing.
Session repeats

This class series runs over 6 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.
