Ever had a shelf you wanted to put up, a hole in the wall to fix or a car that wouldn’t start and thought, "I wish I knew how to fix that"? This is the day you learn.
The Women's DIY Workshop is a community program that helps women build confidence and independence with everyday maintenance.
In one relaxed, hands-on day, you'll learn many skills:
  • Get to know the tools: start with the basics of using hand and power tools safely.
  • Patch it: fill small holes in gyprock, including mixing and applying plaster.
  • Hang it: use a drill correctly, drill into gyprock, choose the right fittings and hang a level shelf.
  • Protect it: home safety basics, including fire alarms and safety plans.
  • Drive it: car basics, including checking oil and coolant and jump-starting a car.
You'll also make a keyring to take home, a small reminder of what you're capable of.
Many women are interested in woodwork and DIY but find traditional, male-dominated workshops intimidating. This program offers an inclusive, supportive space to learn at your own pace, ask all your questions and meet other capable, confident women in your community. This workshop gives you a safe, practical space with lots of encouragement, led by teacher Crisi Cole.
