Please note, if your course falls on end of year holidays, we may ask you to postpone some of your classes to next year. We will be closed Dec 23-Jan 5th 2026.Seasoned instructors and most specific and detailed instructions and guidance. You are guaranteed to learn and to make beautiful tableware in our classes. In this series of three classes, you'll learn wheel throwing, trimming, and glazing basic cylinders. The classes are relaxed and perfect for beginners - you won't feel rushed at all. You'll get detailed demonstrations, and lots of feedback wherever you need it; the classes are deliberately kept small so that you get enough attention from the teacher. The finished (fired) pottery you make will be yours to keep. You'll create cylindrical ceramics, which could be any of the following (or even something different - let your imagination run wild!):
Bowls and plates
Mugs and cups
Stationary/cutlery holders
Planters or vases
Food bowl for your pet
Candle holder
Most students will create three different objects. Will yours be elegant? A bit crazy? Clever? Exploring themes from your childhood or your travels? Something unexpected? We can't wait to see what you'll make. Each class is two hours long, and you'll enjoy one class per week, for three weeks - this allows enough time for drying and firing your pieces in between the classes. Note that you must attend the same time slot for the subsequent two weeks. E.g. if your first class is on 1st Jan, your second must be on 8th Jan, and your third must be 15th Jan. This is is because the students you'll be learning with in each workshop will all be at the same learning stage as you. $210 covers all three classes in the series.* Silky Shapes Studio is a female owned, independent pottery studio listed on ClassBento’s online marketplace. We have been in business of making pottery for 18 years, have knowledgable and experienced instructors to guide you along your pottery journey.

Although nervous and lacking any type of creative talent or ability, I just had a go. My first lesson was amazing! I had so much fun, was covered in clay (use an apron) yet couldn’t stop smiling and giggling to myself. The 2nd lesson was much of the same and the third really tested my creativity. I can’t wait to see the final product! The teachers were great, so patient and able to teach and guide at all levels. It was nice to get out, learn, chat and laugh with some like minded people.
