How it works

We'll send a ClassBento Box to you (a craft kit with what you'll need). Shipping is free, and it should arrive within 2-4 business days. We ship nationwide.

Enjoy the online class - after booking, you'll get a pre-recorded video with instructions. You're welcome to ask the teacher any questions you have.

What you'll do

This online course is designed to be completed in 2 hours at your own pace, it is suitable for beginners. The first half of the course is for you to go through all the pre recorded materials and the second half is a 60 min zoom class would include commenting on your work submitted, some demonstration and also to answer your questions.

We start by teaching characters with 3 strokes, but we will show you examples of other Chinese characters or phrases eg Happy Birthday (生日快樂) because we believe it is important to open ourselves to as much information as we can at any initial stage of learning.
How nice that you can use a new skill to write something nice on a birthday card / words of encouragement to your loved ones!

In this course you will practice at least 30 characters. We will provide all the writing templates in pdf so you can print them out and practice wherever your are. If you do not have access to a printer, simply add the stationary box too to your shopping cart.

We encourage learn online the basic strokes and rules will help you to get confident with the more complicated characters in the later private classes.

Our background - I came from Hong Kong and I have been Melbourne more than 20 years. I love Chinese calligraphy since I am little and I have been teaching Chinese calligraphy and Arts and Crafts to more than 200 students in Melbourne, Victoria. I have students at primary school age, to adults. It is my passion to share my skills and techniques in Chinese calligraphy. I hope you enjoy our classes too.

I am a practicing architect in Melbourne Victoria and I love crafts and arts. Therefore I established a space for big and small kids to come to practice their skills, learn new ideas from others, and make friends. My studio is called Howeartislife (Howe art is life).

I love art and particularly passionate about Chinese brush calligraphy since school age. I learned Chinese Calligraphy and ink/watercolor painting in Hong Kong for many years. My favourite is the traditional script 楷書 but I also practice other scrips

I host small group classes for beginners from age 16 to learn basic strokes and the introduction to various scripts and ink/watercolor drawings. I also teach kids arts and crafts classes.

Recently in 2023, I finished 2 courses "Therapeutic Art Life Coach Certification (Accredited)" and "Internationally Accredited Certificate in Art Therapy".
