  • 5/5 from Jaimee Jamieson, attended Jul 2026: Aunty Karleen was a fabulous teacher, everyone loved the weaving and had a great time and lots of laughs while we fumbled our way through our creations. It was much appreciated that the session was able to be facilitated at our work office! People were so pleased by their finished projects, and those of us with works-in-progress are excited to continue our projects at home. There wasn't as much formal "cultural teaching" as some may have expected - we instead got an authentic experience as it turned into a women's weaving circle, with people relaxing out of their work personas, comfortably chatting and sharing personal stories with each other, being curious to learn more about Aboriginal cultures, and creating a safe space for Aboriginal staff to also share a bit about themselves, too. We loved it and will become repeat clients, I'm sure!
  • 5/5 from Emily Hurd, attended Nov 2025: Never thought I’d get this addicted to weaving but here I am. Such a meditative skill to do and the relaxed feel of the class in a lovely location made this a really nice experience. Tegan has a wealth of knowledge and it was awesome to learn from her how to weave a basket but also learn about what other uses weaving has.
  • 5/5 from Mark Dowling, attended Feb 2025: It was an amazing experience and the young teacher guided us through every stage of the process. It was so relaxing, lots of laughter at one another's efforts and I will continue on with the learning curve. I can thoroughly recommend it!!! Mark Dowling
  • 5/5 from Robyn Lanchester, attended Feb 2025: Loved the class loved our young teacher she didnt let us leave until we all learnt to start, build and end our baskets.

I'm Tegan, a proud member of the Barkindtji tribe originating from Coomealla, Lake Victoria and the Mungo regions from my mother's ancestors. I also belong to the Yorta Yorta and Dhudaroah tribes, originating from the Shepparton area from my father’s ancestors.
"Ngumpie" in Barkindtji means "beautiful" – and this is what my Nanna Shirl used to call me when I was younger.
Nan is no longer with us, so I knew my business name had to be this: Ngumpie, pronounced "Numbpie".
Alongside large-scale commissioned artworks, Ngumpie has appeared in Elle, Country Style, Marie Claire and Living Colour Magazine.
Come and learn about the ancestory tradition of basket weaving in my studio in Narrabeen.
